Kingfisher pair this afternoon.

Some great activity from the kingfisher pair today. Today was the first day this year I have seen the pair interacting and sitting together on a few occasions. This morning, one of our guests saw the male passing a fish to the female.

Very exiting to see the courtship take place infront of the hide today. The female (second shot) was making appearances today too however didn’t have much success in fishing!

The male has been catching fish and flying off with it, which is a very good sign that he is most likely taking it to feed the female.

Really looking forward to the next few weeks and to see the activity from this kingfisher pair. Hoping to see more fish handovers and possibly mating.

I have availability for weekdays and Sunday next week for anyone that is interested, please get in touch.

A great time of year to see the kingfishers at the moment. There has been a second bird about over the last few days too reported by hide guests.

Kingfisher wide angle photography!

A few shots taken from the hide this afternoon. .kingfisher on the River Chess in Sarratt, Hertfordshire.

Great to get a different perspective on these birds using wide angle photography. Using wide angle lenses makes it possible to capture more of the birds habitat in the shot as well as lots of detail of the bird.

Kingfisher wide angle photography.

Capture unique images of these birds using wide angle photography technique. I am running work shops for those who would like to do this. You will need -
- A camera with a lens of a short focal length - anywhere between 10 - 35mm is ideal.
- A way of remote shooting. This means to take pictures on your camera remotely. Most do this by using either a cable or a remote trigger.
- A tripod.

A wet, dark and gloomy day today but good to see the kingfishers showing well.

A few clips taken today from the hide .kingfisher - on the River Chess in Sarratt, Hertfordshire.

The resident male kingfisher seen in this clip was very active outside the hide today. There was briefly a second kingfisher around too which he didn’t tolerate and quickly chased it away.

Another great week with the kingfishers this week. We have had regular visits from the kingfishers - between 10 - 30 visits a day at the moment. Mainly just one bird seen at the moment but some days two.

One of the little owls has been showing well in a particular tree near the kingfisher hide. Taken this afternoon.

The resident kingfishers have been showing very well lately. There are two birds in the area at the moment however they do not tolerate each other and will often chase around the place.

Great to see kingfisher activity pick up lots over the last week. Some mornings visiting the hide area 20+ times!

There is a second bird about now and we have seen both birds from the hide. A great time of year to see kingfishers.
