For now, wedding days are a little different. Well actually very different. In these times of social distancing, bubbles and face masks we have weddings with no friends, no hugging, kissing, handshaking or the reception party.

All is not lost. Instead we have intimate, loving, family weddings like Grace and Paddy’s. To be honest, I love these weddings. There’s something very authentic, relaxed and deep about them that sometimes gets lost in huge occasions.

Nobody knows how long this new norm will continue but small intimate weddings and a big party when the world feels safer is not such a big sacrifice in the name of love!

After returning back home earlier in the year after living and working in New Zealand, Grace and Paddy decided to change their plans. Just an intimate family wedding - a beautiful church ceremony then a walk back through the country lanes for an outdoor gathering back home.

It was wonderful to see some of the locals, who would have been part of the original planned wedding, come out and offer the couple their best wishes along the route. A bigger celebration will no doubt have to wait till next year.

Who knows when some kind of normality will return to our lives and the way we usually enjoy weddings. For now, I have some lovely memories of a day I was fortunate enough to share with some wonderful people. I wish Grace and Paddy every happiness for their future lives together!

Just discovered that I didn’t get one, but two Fearless Awards in Collection 56 so I must confess to being well over the moon and truly honoured.
