We’re excited to share that our image was chosen as one of the 2026 Best of the Best Destination Photos by !!

Of the thousands of incredible entries from photographers around the world, this image of Laura and Shawn was chosen by the judges, and we’re so grateful!

This was a moment at the end of their elopement day, after a ceremony with their closest friends. We headed up to the cliff tops, just as the light was beginning to dip behind the ridge, and the golden light was hitting the hill behind them, as the local sheep wandered past them.

We love moments like these, that just happen. You can’t plan for them, they just depend everything coming together at the right time, and you can’t repeat them, even if you tried.

Thank you so much to the judges to , to Laura and Shawn and of course the sheep 🐏

Day 2 of Debby and Dan’s Skye elopement!

The second day was definitely more sedate than their mountain climbing, abseiling adventure of day 1! But it did still involve being up in the middle of the night, to arrive at the Quiraing for sunrise.

It was so worth it though, as the sun rose and turned the sky orange, and it was beautiful!

After exploring the Quiraing we headed to more shaded locations, starting with a waterfall and ending with woodland by the ocean.

It was such a good end to our two days together! An elopement we’ll never forget!

This two day elopement was so epic, we’ve had to split into 2 IG posts!

Debby and Dan were keen for a mountain adventure and so we took them one of the best in the Cuillin mountains!

We started the day getting ready at their accommodation in Portree before a first look outside. We then headed to the Cuillin to meet Louise their celebrant and Neil their mountain guide. It was the sunniest April day and Debby hiked up the whole 900+m in her dress! She’s such a badass!

We paused part way up for their ceremony high on the mountain , and then continued up to the Inaccessible Pinnacle. The most difficult Munro to climb in the whole of Scotland!

Being later in the day we had the whole place to ourselves! Debby and Dan rock climbed to the top and then abseiled down together, as the sun was starting to dip. It was amazing!!!

After some celebrations we started heading down the mountain, and caught some beautiful evening light as we watched the sun go down. We hiked back to the car by torchlight, chatting about travel plans, scuba diving, and adventures.

It was the most awesome first days adventure on Skye! These types of elopements aren’t easy to pull off, so we were very grateful to have Louise and Neil along to give Debby and Dan the most incredible day!

For 5 years, we’ve wanted to do an elopement on the Cioch high in the Cuillin mountains, here on Skye. ⛰️🧗‍♀️

We FINALLY got the opportunity when Meg and Martin, two climbers from Wales, came to Skye to get married. We suggested the Cioch would be an incredible ceremony location, and they jumped at the idea.

The Cioch is not an easy place to get to, navigating the complex terrain, edging along narrow ledges, and finally rock climbing up a steep slab to the Cioch itself.

Once we all reached the top, with the help of Alex our incredible guide, Ashton climbed to the summit for a stone oathing ceremony with Meg and Martin, whilst we perched on a higher cliff to get the photos and drone videos. As far as we know this as the first ever ceremony held on the Cioch, which is pretty amazing!

The Cioch is particularly famous from a scene in the original Highlander movie, where there was a sword fighting scene on the top. In the last few weeks, Hollywood have been here on Skye filming the remake, so it felt apt for Meg and Martin to reenact the scene.

After summiting we headed back down and did some bouldering, and continued parts of the ceremony including a handfasting by the river.

We do use the word epic quite a lot… but there isn’t really a word that sums up this elopement any more… it was absolutely EPIC!

One year since a 1:30am alarm and a 3:30am pickup for Michelle and Michael, but it was all worth it when they got to witness this sunrise up on the cliffs of the Quiraing.

Every wedding day is unique, and this one reminds us of a cold morning wind, orange skies, an Oceanside picnic with lambs frolicking around, and Michelle looking utterly stunning under her veil in the forest. Not to mention the beautiful ceremony by and the fairy dust moment as it blew all over Micheal. He was definitely well blessed by the fairies!

🥳 We’re really happy to announce that we’ve won a award for the Best Epic Location for this moment from Abbie and Patrick’s Skye elopement! We read the news as we were just grabbing some pizza after finishing up an elopement yesterday and we couldn’t be happier!

This is the second year running that we’ve won in this category, and sadly this year we weren’t there in Vienna, to see the announcement in person, but that’s because we’d been photographing an elopement in this exact spot here on Skye! So it’s a good reason to be missing the awards, and we had plenty of celebratory pizza 🍕🏆

Way up North has been one of the leading wedding awards since 2017, and in their own words, ‘formally celebrate the very best in wedding photography globally’. So we are psyched to have won in the Epic Portrait category again, as it’s one of the most widely entered categories. We made the top 10 out of the thousands of entries which is pretty cool! 🥰

Thanks to the judges for the huge amount of work it takes to go through all the entries and for picking out image out. As well as to the sponsors .ai

And thanks to Abbie and Patrick for trusting us to create your elopement experience. What you think of your day means everything to us. And finally our team and

We’ve photographed this location a lot as it’s only 20 minutes from our house, but when we took this image we knew it was special. The dark clouds above hill, the shape of Abbie’s dress blowing in the wind. It was one of our favourites of the year!

It’s proposal season here on Skye! In the couple of weeks we’ve already had four beautiful proposals and more are coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Kodi wanted to propose to Dulce somewhere beautiful and private, and it worked out perfectly! They had no other people around and these amazing views!

If you’re wondering how proposals work with us then here are the main steps

1. You reach out, we confirm a date and you get booked in

2. We book a call to chat through your vision and we come up with location ideas and give you all our tips to make your proposal perfect

3. We send out all the information you need (maps, photos, video walk throughs) so you’re confident you know exactly what you are doing

4. We check the weather 48 hours out and we let you know if Plan A is a go, or if we are pivoting to plan B.

We are super flexible and so are happy to change timings so that you get the best experience and photos!

5. You propose and you get some beautiful images to remember the moment

Today we watched the sun rise over the Quiraing, and exactly one year ago we were there with Tiarra & Austin. It was a beautiful spring day, just like today!

Tiarra and Austin got ready separately before dawn, then we drove Tiarra and her friend Crystal up to the Quiraing, where she would have her first look during the blue hour with Austin.

Their best friend, Mando, led the ceremony, with bagpipes in the background and a few celebratory shots after (is 7am too early for shots?? Not when you just got married!).

From there the day just unfolded. A wander along the cliffs, then down to a hidden waterfall surrounded by a carpet of wild garlic.

They ended there elopement adventure with a loch-side picnic, cake and champagne outside their bell tent, and a well-earned afternoon nap before heading out to celebrate with their friends.

It was such a good example of keeping things simple whilst making the most of the whole day.

Happy first anniversary!

Grace and Sean found their way to us in a more unusual way than most of our couples. Grace works in ocean conservation 🌊, which Steph used to work in as well, and a colleague connected us after Grace told her that she wanted to elope.

We were thrilled to get to spend time with some fellow ocean lovers! Grace and Sean came over to visit us the day before their wedding and hung out with us and our dogs to chat over the plan for the day. Having an in person meet before the elopement day, is something we aim to do for every couple, so it doesn’t feel like having two strangers rocking up on your wedding day.

On the day itself we picked them up before sunrise, and drove up to the Quiraing, where we watched the sun come up together, and they had a first look by lantern light.

After a warm up with tea and snacks in the car we met their celebrant Ashton and hiked out along the cliffs for their ceremony. We loved the local elements they chose; a handfasting cord made here on Skye; as well as a quaich incorporating sand from Skye.

After the ceremony we went on a road trip, exploring waterfalls, so many sheep, rainbows, mountains and river, and ending with some of the best pizza on Skye.

What an amazing day!

Rebecca & Thomas spent their entire wedding day exploring the Isle of Skye. From slow morning moments at Cuillin Hills to vows beneath the Cuillins, and beautiful portraits at the Quiraing. This the beauty of a full-day elopement in the Scottish Highlands, complete with handwritten vows, a handfasting, and the sound of bagpipes in the wind. A day with space to breathe, celebrate, and be fully present.
