All love is celebrated here. 🏳️‍🌈❤️🏳️‍⚧️

We were shocked and angry this week to see blatant homophobia from a UK based wedding photographer, refusing to work with a same-sex couple. This is not okay and is illegal in the UK!

We believe in celebrating all love without prejudice, and so we just wanted to set out our thoughts and position when it comes to working with all couples and celebrating all love.

As a business we’ve not been vocal enough about this in the past, but it’s clear from what happened this week that more needs to be said about it, and this is a first step.

We’re committed to improving the way are are allies to the LGBTQ+ community, and creating experience and memories that celebrate you, just as you are.

How far in advance should you book a Scottish elopement? It’s a question we get asked a lot. And the answer is that there isn’t really a set amount of time.

There are a few rules if you want to do a legal ceremony here in Scotland..

✨ Paperwork has to be submitted in Scotland between 3 months and 29 days in advance of your date - so no last minute legal ceremonies

✨ If you aren’t from the UK and want to do a legal ceremony here, you also need to apply for a Marriage Visitor Visa, which you can start 3 months before your planned travel date (not the wedding date) - this process can easily take 2 months unless you pay extra for expediting.

However, not all ceremonies are done legally and you do have the option to do a symbolic ceremony here in Scotland and take care of the paperwork back home. Which is often cheaper, and less of a bureaucratic headache for those of you not from the UK.

In that case, you could elope next week! (Well you could if we were not on vacation 🙂). Our shortest enquiry to elopement date has been a single week, and we were able to arrange a celebrant, flowers, and a timeline for the day in that short space of time.

Natalie and Cade pictured here actually booked us much further out - around 18 months in advance! So it really is up to the individual couple as to how much planning time you want - we’re currently taking bookings up to the end of 2027, and have a wait list for 2028.

No matter how long it is until your elopement we will be there to plan a timeline, suggest accommodation options, book all your other vendors for you, and provide all the support you need to make eloping a stress free version of wedding planning.

The Isle of Skye is also known as Eilean a’ Cheò, which means ‘the Misty Isle’ in Gaelic. It’s a very fitting name, as we can get fogs that don’t lift for days!

In early July the fog rolled in for almost a week! Which meant we once again had to be flexible and change our planned timelines all week.

Olivia and Hunter already had to change their plans due to work commitments, and so they’d been waiting for this day for even longer! The day before their wedding they came over to our house, which all of our couples do, to meet in person for the first time, get comfortable together, and to discuss the plan for the day.

The weather showed periods of heavy rain, wind and low cloud… so we made a decision to move their ceremony from the Quiraing, which had zero visibility (we went and checked!) to the grounds of their hotel, overlooking the ocean. This turned out to be a great option as the rain stopped long enough for them to have a heartfelt ceremony led by Davina, and piped by Alan. Their parents and brothers could enjoy the ceremony without getting battered by the weather. It was perfect.

Afterwards we headed off on an adventure, but by this time the rain had set in, and after getting some dramatic shots at a waterfall, we decided to call it for the day, so they could go warm up and dry off before dinner.

However, we didn’t feel that we had done their day justice due to the weather, so we switched some plans around, spoke to Bonny our favourite makeup artist, and very kindly she agreed to come to our house the next day to do Olivia’s hair again, and we made a plan for a day 2, to get all of the couple portraits they’d been dreaming of.

It was still foggy but that just added to the drama at the Fairy Glen, as we explored misty woodland, they said their private vows in front of the Fairy Castle, and we hiked through the Glen, which we had all to ourselves.

In the end it all worked out perfectly, and as Hunters friend said, it looked like they got married in Narnia.

We will go above and beyond to get you the photos and experience of your dreams! No matter what plans we need to change.

There is nothing predictable about the weather on the Isle of Skye, apart from the fact that it is unpredictable. 🌦️

Which is why for your wedding we often end up changing your timeline, so that you are out for the best conditions of the day.

Two day elopements increase the flexibility we have to ensure that you get the absolute best conditions while you are on Skye.

Nicole and James travelled from Seattle with a plan to get married at the Quiraing with their closest family and friends.. but the weather was not in their favour, with high winds forecast for their ceremony time.

We still took them to the Quiraing post ceremony, where the veil became the star of the show, blowing elegantly in the wind.

The day started with Nicole and her guests getting their hair and makeup up done by the incredible Bonny’s wonderland team.

It was also Nicole’s birthday on her wedding day- as is tradition in her family - so there were birthday balloons, and even more reason to celebrate!

Nicole got ready with her mom and then had some important moments with both her parents, when she gave them some personal gifts. A poem for her mom, and an annotated Bible for her dad. Nicole is the queen of thoughtful gifts!

James looked classically stylish in his tuxedo. We always say that a tuxedo is the perfect elopement outfit, as it never goes out of style, and it looks so good on the hill!

The ceremony was held in the grounds of the beautiful Monkstadt, using the building to shelter from the strong winds. The ceremony was officiated jointly by Davina a local celebrant and Nicole’s father. It was the perfect combination of Scottish tradition, faith and family.

Post ceremony they cut their cake, had a delicious lunch and did their first dances before we whisked them off to the Quiraing for some couple portraits

Mary and Colin were BIG fans of coo’s, and so we hiked up the hill to meet them, and they had the best time!

A real life f a i r y t a l e ✨✨✨ One of the things that we tell our couples, is that an elopement can be whatever you want it to be. There are no rules or expectations. Your elopement day is the chance to be exactly who you are and to have the most fun and magic possible, free from anyone else’s expectations.

These images show only part of Cristina and Daniel’s Skye wedding day, but we will post the other half soon. Cristina wanted an actual fairytale for her wedding and so between us, we made it happen. The rainbow and the sunbeams were paid actors for the day 🙂

Cristina is a talented writer, who writes much more eloquently than us, so we will leave you with the words she wrote about this morning. They are beautiful.

“Up before dawn to meet the rise of the sun, a vast expanse unfolds before us, with just our hearts, our guides, and the fairies to lead us. 🧚‍♀️

There is something very strange that happens to many of us when we grow big and up, the little moments of magic which once felt so innate seem to slip away beneath the guise of how-it-is-ness, leaving behind an eroded version of what was once called, life.

Even stranger still, we get big and old and the erosion stays with us while we search for someone to give us a polish, while we ask for our partners to make us shine, while we hand away each and every part of ourselves in an effort to get back what we had little by little, given away.

We’re excited to share that our image was chosen as one of the 2026 Best of the Best Destination Photos by !!

Of the thousands of incredible entries from photographers around the world, this image of Laura and Shawn was chosen by the judges, and we’re so grateful!

This was a moment at the end of their elopement day, after a ceremony with their closest friends. We headed up to the cliff tops, just as the light was beginning to dip behind the ridge, and the golden light was hitting the hill behind them, as the local sheep wandered past them.

We love moments like these, that just happen. You can’t plan for them, they just depend everything coming together at the right time, and you can’t repeat them, even if you tried.

Day 2 of Debby and Dan’s Skye elopement!

The second day was definitely more sedate than their mountain climbing, abseiling adventure of day 1! But it did still involve being up in the middle of the night, to arrive at the Quiraing for sunrise.

It was so worth it though, as the sun rose and turned the sky orange, and it was beautiful!

After exploring the Quiraing we headed to more shaded locations, starting with a waterfall and ending with woodland by the ocean.

It was such a good end to our two days together! An elopement we’ll never forget!

This two day elopement was so epic, we’ve had to split into 2 IG posts!

Debby and Dan were keen for a mountain adventure and so we took them one of the best in the Cuillin mountains!

We started the day getting ready at their accommodation in Portree before a first look outside. We then headed to the Cuillin to meet Louise their celebrant and Neil their mountain guide. It was the sunniest April day and Debby hiked up the whole 900+m in her dress! She’s such a badass!

We paused part way up for their ceremony high on the mountain , and then continued up to the Inaccessible Pinnacle. The most difficult Munro to climb in the whole of Scotland!

Being later in the day we had the whole place to ourselves! Debby and Dan rock climbed to the top and then abseiled down together, as the sun was starting to dip. It was amazing!!!

After some celebrations we started heading down the mountain, and caught some beautiful evening light as we watched the sun go down. We hiked back to the car by torchlight, chatting about travel plans, scuba diving, and adventures.

It was the most awesome first days adventure on Skye! These types of elopements aren’t easy to pull off, so we were very grateful to have Louise and Neil along to give Debby and Dan the most incredible day!
