August bank holiday is done.
September is here.
School starts this week.
I have had the absolute joy of capturing these sisters before their first day of school (two years apart). It is not lost on me what a privilege it is to get to document your families milestones, everyday moments and special events.

I have been so lucky to capture this gorgeous family over the last 3.5 years and to do an at home session was so special and fun. They were making cookies when I arrived, harvesting their crops moments later and showing off the best girl room ever with so much personality. This is their life. Right now. Their everyday. Not polished and perfect, but full of love, memories and joy.

I recently had the privilege of documenting a Christening it was at a beautiful, local church and the light streaming in was absolutely perfect.

The Mum booked me because she didn’t get photos of her older children’s Christening and she was so sad not to have many physical photos from the day.

Moments like this make up the tapestry of your memories with your little one. The first day of school. It’s such a huge milestone.

But do you want to know what happens when you try to capture these moments on the actual first day of school?! You’re not in them. They don’t happen because everyone is actually getting ready for the day. Emotions are big. Quick snaps on the phone if you’re lucky.

I was editing a first day of school session today and couldn’t figure out why I was so emotional about them. Then it hit me…it feels like just yesterday I was editing the pictures of my own child starting school, concentrating so hard on his buttons, nervous and excited for what ‘big school’ would be.

And now, here we are in the last 7 days of year 6. We’ve got all the feels in our house and still can’t believe we are here.

Take the photos, capture the memories because before you know it, those clumsy, chubby little fingers will be doing up the buttons without even looking.
