I’m regularly asked on workshops ‘what is the best camera ?’

The honest answer (very corney, but true) is the one you have with you at the time - for most people, that is their phone.

It’s not about the biggest, most expensive camera you can afford. It really is about using your eyes and looking.

Same principal’s apply : keep it level, foreground interest, leading lines, framing and composition.

This was a quick snapshot I took today with an iPhone.

The bluebells are out and they are stunning. Middleton woods in Ilkley is especially beautiful.

I am running a last minute ‘pop-up’ workshop and walk around the Middleton wood area on Sunday 10th May, starting at 10.30 and running until 13.00 / 13.30.

Learn basic photography techniques and how to capture the bluebells at their best by concentrating on individual bluebells and learn to how use ICM to create a painterly effect (DSLR or mirrorless camera required).

This session involves walking on uneven ground.

Max 10 persons at a reduced cost of £ 30 per person.

Meeting at the Lido in Ilkley.

Quick reminder that the first Photography workshop of the year takes place in just over a months time.

29th March at 10am for 4-5 hours in Leeds.

Thank you all for another fantastic year and especially your support. It really is appreciated.

As a small business owner, every share, every like, every recommendation and every single penny you spend means the world - it really does.

I’m taking a much needed break and spending time with family and also looking forward to continuing with a couple of delayed personal photography projects which I will share in the New Year.

I am delighted to announce the first 3 dates for 2025 'Learn the basics of Photography Workshop' sessions.

Session 1 : Guiseley, Sunday 18th May 2025

Session 2 : Otley, Sunday 3rd August 2025

Session 3 : Ilkley Sunday 29th June 2025

Cost for the basic sessions are £ 40 per person for 2025.

Dates will also be shortly announced for all other sessions coming up for the rest of 2025.
