The Perfect Touch had her first Allan experience today at our Kincraig/Kingussie wedding..

She has left traumatised by the experience, counselling is optional 🤣

Welcome to mad wedding world of Allan...although, who can be that afraid of 'wildlife'

the Camp Snap Camera CS8 got whipped out for it's first outing. A few wee clips on various setting until I see what it can do...

Why does this look so sh*t it's actually good. More playtime ahead until I get used to its limitations. This is on the 'vintage' mode. Personally...my thoughts...I love it!

Anyway today's Part 2 of a wedding from during the week. No sneak peeks for obvious reasons but it was west coast. The images are banging, not vintage just banging, I'm a photographer, not a videographer.

Cameron my neighbour and Highland Wedding Films was there both days for video...thankfully.

Whilst we photographers and videographers spend half our lives obsessing over clean, crisp, beautifully smooth footage... there’s now a resurgence of the vintage look and film.

And honestly, I’m here for it.

I still have a couple of film bodies kicking about, although they don’t get nearly as much use as they should. But I’ve now added another wee bit of vintage nonsense to the arsenal.

Except this one isn’t actually film. It’s a vintage-look digital video camera.

No autofocus.
No stabilisation.
No fancy bells and whistles.
Not even remotely sensible.

The footage has that wonderfully imperfect, old-school feel that you just don’t get from a £5,000 camera body and a lens that could probably photograph the moon’s toenails.

So, over the next few months, I’m going to be taking it along to a few weddings and having a proper play.

Want some Super 8 vibes?
Want a ton of vintage wobble?
Want your wedding film to look like it was found in a drawer in 1994?

Let’s play.

Because sometimes the best bit of kit is the one that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

And...on that note. I love my Sony cameras and GM lenses, but I have felt since switching I am missing something and I know what it is. Things may be rewinding in the camera body and lenses department. More on that maybe next month.

More on today's wedding...tomorrow. Cards are importing and my wee legs are sore. Leave the cards to import as I get some sleep and then I'll jump into some editing.

Today’s cheeky wee wedding at Loch an Eilein on Rothiemurchus estate.

T & N came over from Germany with their friends and family for an elopement conducted by Monika Strell Monika. I left them at 6 to head up to Inverness and the Mustard Seed.

The sneak peeks as they land on the screen and before I go clean the cameras and lenses before tomorrow’s Farr Estate wedding.

Google & Facebook reviews… J&I, you’re absolutely spoiling me! ❤️

These two absolutely smashed their party-vibe wedding last month.

One hell of a day, one hell of a party, and the kind of wedding where you’re basically hanging on for dear life trying to keep up with what’s happening 😂

Thank you both. You were brilliant, your guests were brilliant, and the whole day was bloody brilliant.

Now… who’s next? 👀

THE GHOSTING NEEDS TO STOP 👻

A little bit of wedding supplier etiquette, because apparently we need to have this conversation…2026 appears to be the worst year yet for it after speaking to plenty of suppliers. Yes we all speak to each other.

If you enquire with a supplier, they take the time to reply, check your date, answer your questions and put everything together for you… please just reply.

This year alone, my CRM tells me I’ve replied to 72 enquiries that have completely disappeared into the void.

And before someone says “maybe it went into junk?” Nope. My CRM tells me when an email has been opened. So yes, you saw it.

And that's fine. You might have changed your mind, booked someone else, decided to elope to Vegas or realised Auntie Mabel is actually photographing it on her iPhone. Just say.

Also, a little side note. My prices, like many wedding suppliers, are on my website. They're not hidden behind a secret trapdoor. So if you enquire, you already have a pretty good idea what you're going to pay before I reply with a quote.

You don't need to s**t yourself when the email lands.

Because we receive multiple enquiries for the same date. If you take 7, 10, 14 days or a month to come back and someone else books it in the meantime, that's not the supplier's fault. That's on you.

If it was the other way round, couples would be straight into wedding Facebook groups complaining about a supplier's "terrible communication". Communication works both ways.

You don't owe me a booking. But a simple "Thanks, we've decided to go elsewhere" takes about 10 seconds.

And what will you get from me? "No worries, thanks for letting me know. Have an amazing wedding day and all the best."

No drama. No guilt trip. Just basic manners.

Ghosting isn't communication. It's just rude.

After 18 years of using a dual camera harness with the cameras flapping about, a trapped nerve and excruciating pain after my last two weddings.

The harness is set for retirement...ordered the Spider Camera Holster V3 to see how I get on with that and take the weight off my old man shoulders. He says this at the time of possibly rewinding the clock back about 5 years as he eyes up what Fuji might be dropping soon...

In other news...I'm away until 8th August but will have access to emails and CRM
