WILDLIGHT – MOUNTAIN HARE

I’m delighted to share that this image is part of In Defence of the Single Image, presented by the LVII Collective as part of FLOW Photofest.

A minimal moment of a mountain hare running through a snow drift, taken in Glenshee in February — part of my ongoing Wildlight series.

This piece, Wildlight: Owl Strike, is part of my ongoing Wildlight project — capturing a fleeting moment of movement and precision, and exploring wildlife in monochrome.

WILDLIGHT: EMERGENCE

I’m delighted to share that this image will be part of the Macro 2026 digital exhibition at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography this April.

This black and white image of a luna moth is from Wildlight: Emergence — a fine art series exploring butterflies in monochrome, where colour is stripped away to highlight detail, form, and the quiet beauty of these often overlooked species.

It’s a real pleasure to have work included in this exhibition, and especially to be exhibiting in Glasgow for the first time.

Special thanks to the team at Landmark Forest Adventure Park for their support during the creation of Wildlight: Emergence.

SCOTTISH NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2025

I’m really pleased to share that I had two images shortlisted in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2025.

One image was shortlisted in the Scottish Wildlife Behaviour category, and another in the Scottish Wildlife Portrait category.

A great competition to be part of — and always inspiring to see the standard of work each year. Congratulations to all involved.

GOLDEN EAGLE AT GOLDEN HOUR

One of the most unforgettable wildlife encounters I’ve ever had.

After hours of waiting in bitter cold, wind, and rain, this incredible bird finally returned — and just as the sky behind us began to glow. Seeing a golden eagle this close is rare, and photographs don’t come close to showing the true scale and power of them. When the light aligned too, it felt like everything clicked into place, as it fed naturally on a road-killed fox.

MOUNTAIN HARE

Then there were three. A snowy day in the hills, with deep wet snow, tired legs, and moments like this that made it all worth it.

WILDLIGHT: ABOVE GROUND

A moment I never expected to witness. A badger climbing and pausing among the branches. Captured last year during a close encounter, revealing an unusual side of a familiar animal.

I’m excited to share that 10 of my Wildlight images are now on display at Ffordes Photographic on the Canon UK Image Wall!

If you’re in the area, please check them out — and if you haven’t been to Ffordes before, it’s well worth a visit. I’ve been going for almost 10 years and the staff have always been incredible. Their support and encouragement have played a huge part in my journey as a photographer, and I honestly can’t thank them enough.

All of the prints were produced in-store on their Canon ImagePrograf Pro-300 Printer using Canon LU-101 Luster Photo Paper Pro A3, both of which are available at Ffordes.

WILDLIGHT: EMERGENCE

Emergence is the first sub-project within
Wildlight - a series of black-and-white fine art photographs focusing on butterflies. Often seen as symbols of transformation, grace, and freedom, these creatures are reimagined here in monochrome, where colour is stripped away to highlight detail, contrast, the intricate patterns of their wings, and a quiet strength often overlooked.

Created for a woman’s only exhibition, “It’s About Time”, the series reflects the idea of
growth, change, and self-definition — themes deeply tied to both the natural
life cycle of the butterfly and the evolving voice of the artist. Through a
considered use of light, shadow, and form, Emergence invites viewers to pause,
observe, and connect with these fleeting moments of beauty and becoming.

The exhibition is now open at Eden court theatre 27th of October- 27th of November

There will also be a “meet the artist” event on the 2nd of November 6:30pm-8:30pm at Eden court, it would be lovely to see you all there!
