What an ace day in Albion Street Studios with my mate Photography by Ellen
We’ve been working on the classic Rembrandt style in black and white portraits.
For those who like a little bit of history, Rembrandt was a Dutch painter born in 1606, and he became famous for the way he used light and shadow in his portraits. His paintings had real mood, depth and character and that style still influences photography today.
In photography, Rembrandt lighting is where you create that little triangle of light on the cheek. It’s one of those classic techniques that has stood the test of time because it just works.
No fancy nonsense. Just good light, good shadows and a strong portrait.
It’s been brilliant creating with Ellen, having a laugh, testing ideas and sharpening the tools.
You never stop learning in this game and days like this are exactly why I love what I do.
