Scafell from Hardknott Roman Fort.
The fort was built around the same time as Hadrian's Wall early in the 2nd century but only occupied for around 20 years, it sits at the head of the Esk Valley alongside Hardknott pass.

We had already seen the Dales Tractor run coming through Reeth, and again at Usha Gap Campsite. What a magnificent turn out in Rachel's memory. If there is a Just Giving page we can add to the Post please let me know.

Taken this afternoon in Swaledale, this is such a simple composition but because of the colourful flowers it lifts the scene into something quite pleasing.
It's a photograph I've taken before, but the flowers, the light and the clouds are far better this time.

Sunrise on Lindisfarne during summer is not for the faint hearted, both me and my lovely wife were slightly grumpy when the alarms woke us up at 3am yesterday, the wife was even less impressed when I said it looked like the clouds would block any colour.
Anyway after rushing to the island, we got a nice enough sky and I even saw a barn owl, a couple of young deer and a couple of other people in the few hours there.

Looking over at Muker past an old Cow'us (barn). The cow'uses you can see today were mainly constructed between late 18th and 19th centuries and looking at this one you can really see how well constructed they are.
I'm always amazed at just how many there are dotted up on the hillsides and meadows sometimes just yards away from each other.
