Some more photos from my walk around Stanley Park yesterday (31 August 2026).

An acrobatic Coot, Geese taking off, another goose who seems to be laughing, two herons in the rain, a Moorhen and youngster, Swans taking off and finally a squirrel.

Went for a walk in Stanley Park this morning, hoping to avoid the rain but wasn't that lucky, still managed to get some nice photos. This first batch are from the Rose Garden.

Short walk along the canal from Glasson this morning before the rains came.

Little walk round the Nature Reserve and along the river this afternoon managed to capture this sequence of, I believe, a Common Redshank.

Some more photos from my walk on Walney Island on Monday.

First up a couple of cormorants, there were 5 in total, 4 on the beach and 1 swimming, all keeping a beady eye on me and strutting off when I got too close.

Then a number of smaller birds which I believe are Reed bunting and Stonechats. They were rather timid and didn't let me get close so these were all taken on long lens and cropped.

Definitely going to have to go back 🙂

I have removed some background elements in the two photos of the Darters on Twigs, just to make them stand out a bit better.

Today I decided to take a trip to Walney Island, near Barrow-in-Furness hoping to get some nice photos and I wasn't disappointed. There were loads of Butterflies, and these are the subject of the first lot of photos.

A lot of these I haven't seen/photographed before, but include: (identified via Google Lens)
Common Blue
Large White
Meadow Brown
Painted Lady (x2)
Red Admiral
Shaded Broadbar and
Small Heath.

More photos to come when I get a chance to go through them 😏

Today, a friend and I, took a trip to Burton-on-Trent to visit The Deer Park at Hoar Cross.

Had a lovely day, although very hot, and managed to get these photos (and a few others) of 1 herd of, I believe, Red Deer, which included 1 adult Male, around 6 adult females and a number of young.

Additional photos include a bird, which I believe may be a fly catcher, and a buzzard which was soaring for sometime and making a fair amount of noise.

Hopefully there will be some more photos to come, once I get a chance to go through them.

A lovely morning for a stroll up Beacon Fell today. Not too hot and managed to avoid any rain. Unfortunately the cloud cover did make it very dark in some of the wooded areas, but I was pleased with this selection of photos which include a bee (possibly a Brown Banded Carder) which was feeding on Foxgloves, a Coal Tit, a Tree Creeper and then 3 young Robins.
