Competition results tell one part of a horse's story... but the moments at home are often the ones that mean the most. ❤️

I recently spent a lovely morning with Kirstie, her horses and dogs, creating portraits that celebrated not just their achievements, but their personalities and the place they call home.

From a HOYS-winning stallion to homebred youngsters and lifelong companions, this session was a beautiful reminder of why preserving these memories matters.

This Banham family session was such a joy to create — full of tractors, Land Rovers, treasured family pieces, and of course Rosie the Gypsy Cob and Jack the Border Terrier right at the heart of it all.

What I loved most was how the whole experience was shaped through the design consultation, making sure everything we included genuinely reflected their life and story.

Family portraits like this are so important. You never quite know how life will change, which is why documenting things exactly as they are right now becomes priceless in years to come.

We set out hoping for a stunning winter sunrise in the Peak District... and got fog and drizzle instead! ☁️🐾

Thankfully, Pepper and Molly didn't mind one bit. These two beautiful Cocker Spaniels spent the morning exploring, playing, and proving exactly why winter might just be the perfect time for a dog portrait session.

One of the greatest privileges of my job is being invited back to photograph families as they grow ❤️

A few years after their first portrait session, I caught up with Ivy and her family's adorable new addition, Ronald the sausage dog, amongst a sea of beautiful bluebells. It was a wonderful reminder that every season of life deserves to be remembered.

There’s something so special about spring portraits 🌸

Lucy won my Burghley competition, and I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful spring morning with her, Ted, William, Fleur and Arnie at their stunning Lincolnshire home. Despite the trees still waiting for their leaves, the gardens were bursting with colour from blossom, daffodils and tulips, creating the most magical backdrop.

People often imagine a portrait session as something static.
A field. A stable yard. A quick set of images and done.
But it doesn’t have to be that.

Some of the most extraordinary sessions I’ve created have been in places that feel almost unreal — wide open spaces where everything feels bigger, quieter, freer.

Wind in the mane.
Light stretching across the land.
That sense of being completely small in the best possible way.

Whether it’s the edges of the Peaks, the coastline, or hidden places that only show themselves at the right time of day… the location becomes part of the story just as much as the subject.

And the beautiful thing is it’s never about chasing “epic” for the sake of it.
It’s about choosing the place that reflects you.
Your story. Your season of life. Your horse, your dog, your family, right now.

Hi, I’m Imogen 👋

I thought it was probably time I introduced myself properly for everyone who’s joined me recently.

I photograph horses, dogs and the people who love them, but the truth is, I love photographing stories more than anything.

I never panic about children running off, animals having their own ideas, muddy boots or things feeling a bit chaotic. Honestly? I love it.

Because those are usually the moments that become favourites.

People often tell me my photographs feel very natural and that’s always the biggest compliment. I spend time finding beautiful light and the right location, then I mostly let people simply be with their horse, dog or family.

There is no catwalking. No awkward pouting. No wondering what to do with your hands.

I have been known to leave reluctant teenage sons asking for “just one more photo” with the family dog.

And some of my happiest messages come from clients who nearly didn’t get in the photographs at all because they “hate having pictures taken”, only to tell me afterwards they were so glad they were brave enough to do it.

I want the images we create to feel like you — relaxed, joyful and full of the moments that make you smile every time you walk past them.
