🎂 Not every baby loves a cake smash… and that’s okay!

I’m not going to lie to you… Louis took some convincing! 😂

And do you know what?

That is completely normal.

Not every one-year-old sees a giant cake and thinks “YES. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR.” 😂

Some babies dive straight in.

Some poke it.

Some look at it like it’s deeply suspicious.

Some want Mum.

Some want Dad.

Some cry.

Some take a little while to warm up.

And some need a LOT of convincing… 👀😂

At around one year old, there can be so much going on. They might be teething, tired, going through a big developmental stage, or experiencing separation anxiety. And then you’ve brought them somewhere they’ve never been before, with a strange lady pointing a camera at them and a massive cake being put in front of them.

I’d be suspicious too! 😂

So please, if your little one doesn’t immediately sit down and smash that cake to pieces, DO NOT apologise.

You haven’t done anything wrong.

Your baby isn’t “being difficult”.

And the photoshoot hasn’t failed.

Kids are kids. 🤍

I’ve photographed hundreds of babies and children over the years — trust me, I’ve seen it all.

My job isn’t to force your baby to perform for the camera.

It’s to give them time, let them settle, follow their lead and capture whatever happens naturally.

And sometimes…

…the most beautiful photographs are the ones where they’re simply looking at Mum, having a cuddle, giving us a little smile or figuring out what the hell this cake is. 😂

Because ultimately, the cake is just the excuse.

We’re really here to capture YOUR BABY at one year old. 🥹

And Louis?

Well… he got there in the end. 🎂😂🤍

So if you’re worried your little one won’t smash their cake — don’t be.

Come as you are.

I’ll take care of the rest. 📸✨

There is something so incredibly special about photographing a new baby with their big brother or sister. In this case an amazing big sister.

Because these photographs aren’t just about the baby. They’re about the beginning of a whole new relationship. 🥹

The little kisses.
The tiny hands holding theirs.
The curiosity.
The cuddles.

But amongst all of it, you’re capturing the very first pages of their story together.

But these photographs will take them right back to the beginning. To when their big sister was learning how to be a big sister.

And to the moment their family changed forever. 🤍

Those are the photographs I love.

Memories. Relationships. Emotion. The bits you’ll want to remember long after they’ve grown. 📸✨

🤍 LOOK HOW THEY’VE GROWN 🤍

I’ve photographed these three for years.

Before Darcy even existed. 🥹

I’ve watched them grow, change, get taller, develop their own personalities — and now here they are, together again in front of my camera.

And honestly? This is why I love photographing families.

Because a family photoshoot isn’t just about what your children look like right now.

It’s about capturing who they are together.

The way they hold hands.
The way they look at each other.
The little smiles.
The ridiculous giggles.
The personalities that somehow get bigger every year. 😂

One day, these three won’t be standing in my studio in matching outfits looking this little.

They’ll be teenagers.

Then adults.

And they’ll look back at these photographs and remember exactly who they were together.

That’s the magic of photographing families over and over again.

I don’t just get to photograph your children growing up…

I get to watch their story unfold. 📸🤍

They’re only this age once.

And I’d bloody love to be the one who captures it. 🤍
