Another shot from Diamond Beach in Iceland, this time was from a failed sunrise but I really liked the dark and moody conditions which suited the black sand beach.

Sunrise at Skogafoss, without the actual sunrise. Surprisingly had the place with no other photographer's or tourists in sight which was a surprise!

A wider shot of Dyrholaey looking towards Reynisfjara with a massive swell and stormy seas. The lightning and conditions are my favourite here, thick cloud with light breaking through.

It's hard to tell and get a sense of scale but the rock in the picture is huge, about 15m I would say and I'm shooting this from a cliff at 50mm and not on the beach. If I was on the beach I would have easily been swept out. Such an impressive place.

Again, I really dont think I could have been much luckier with the conditions in Iceland.

This is a shot from a sunrise in Vik and everything just lined up. After the pretty dire day the day before here, it was lovely to return for some different conditions.

The forecast had looked promising and it delivered. On arriving there was the smallest gap in the clouds but thats all I needed. It was also surprising to see no other groups on the beach at all so I got total freedom.

It was just a case of waiting for the light and the right wave and snapping away.

Taking a quick break from Iceland, I'm going back to January when I was running a workshop in Glencoe and believe it or not, the aurora I saw here was much better than anything I got to see in Iceland.

We were stopping in a cottage on the shores of Loch Leven within walking distance of Glencoe Lochan. I saw the aurora alerts kicking off but it was cloudy at first. However eventually a clearing came and the aurora was super visible by eye.

I always find aurora around Glencoe tricky because of the high mountains usually block what we can see but on this evening there was no worry as it was that strong it filled the sky.

Here we are at the jetty on Glencoe Lochan looking up to the Pap of Glencoe. In over 10 years of running workshops in Scotland this was the first time I had caught a decent show of the aurora and even though the week was tough weather wise this really made up for it and let my clients experience something truly unique.

Gljúfrabúi is a tall and difficult to photograph waterfall located just 10 minutes walk from its famous sibling, Seljalandsfoss. It can be busy and tight in the cave but it is super impressive to say the least.
