Do you ever find that even though January is the “official” start of the New Year… we’re not always ready to make big changes straight away?

This year, January felt more reflective for me.
But now we’re in February, I feel ready to step forward.

It feels beautifully timed that tomorrow, in the Chinese zodiac calendar, we wave goodbye to the Year of the Snake 🐍 — a year of shedding old habits and baggage, making space for growth and new beginnings.

And in doing so, we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse 🔥
Energy. Movement. Forward steps.

I’ve never taken huge notice of the meanings behind each year before… but walking through Manchester’s Chinatown last week, I genuinely sensed a gentle shift.
From stillness… to momentum.

Happy Chinese New Year to all those celebrating — and here’s to a year of forward movement and fire horse energy. x

I always get excited seeing one of my images on a cover! WOOP!

This was a FABULOUS shoot, where we took to the streets of Manchester, to reaffirm Manchester High School’s connection with our wonderful home city.

Manchester provided SO MANY BACKDROPS for us - that we were seriously spoilt for choice! But this was taken in Castlefield, just near Albert’s Shed and Duke’s. (Local friends - i'm sure you'll recognise it!)

The pupils were brilliant to work with and we had a real giggle!

Thank you Manchester High School for Girls for letting me part of your photographic journey x

Did you know that today is the Jewish Festival of the “Birthday of the Trees” called Tu Bishvat. 🌲🌳🪾
(No - i didn’t know either!).

But they were talking about it on Radio 2 this morning and it really resonated with me! 🍁🍃🌳🌲

So here’s a little reminder of what we need to thank the trees for...

💚 They make the air breathable
🌲 They are home to birds, bugs, funghi and squirrels.
🌳 They’re free therapists - they literally lower stress.
🌲 They’re generous - they give us wood, paper, medicine, fruit, nuts and shelter.
🍁 They give us the incredible colours in autumn, dramatic silhouettes in winter and heavenly blossom in spring.
🍃 They even talk to each other thro’ their root network.

I mean they’re pretty EPIC, by all accounts! 🤩

Apparently jewish people celebrate it by eating nuts and fruit and drinking wine. 🍎🍷

So there you have it... celebrate your favourite tree’s birthday today - and make this gloomy Monday a little bit brighter! 💚🌲🍁🍃

And here are some of my favourite tree iPhone moments over the years…! Enjoy 🙏🏻💚 x

New Year. New cover moment ✨

I photographed Dr Sanjay Mehra, Transplant Surgeon and Clinical Director at Royal Liverpool Hospital, for the latest issue of

We shot a mix of looks from smart jackets to scrubs and created a range of backgrounds for the feature.

Dr Mehra is using the platform to champion organ donation and support a charity transplant programme in India.
The UK now uses an opt-out donation system ❤️ but many countries still don’t, which means fewer people get that second chance at life.

Swipe to see some favourites from the shoot, including various backdrop changes…!

Huge thanks to Dr Mehra for trusting me with your cover shot.

Introducing Felicity Wilde, a nutritional therapist (and a truly wonderful client) who wanted updated headshots for her new website https://felicitywildenutritionaltherapy.com/

Her story is fascinating, inspirational and full of hope - it's really worth a quick read:

After years of living with polycystic ovarian syndrome, digestive issues, eczema and migraines, she began researching the root causes herself.

The amazing thing is... she successfully reversed her symptoms in her early twenties and went on to have two children naturally, which made her motivated in helping others do the same.

With over twenty years of study and personal experience in nutrition, her ethos is this:

reduce inflammation +
restoring gut health +
supporting sustainable lifestyle habits

= the foundation for long-term vitality.

She was a joy to spend time with and SO knowledgeable in this whole field, that i really recommend you put her on your radar, via Insta () or LinkedIn.

Thanks for asking me Felicity and best of luck with your nutritional journey going forward. x

I've really enjoyed my recent shoots for the super friendly team at The Property Perspective, who wanted to update staff headshots/teamshots.

I set up my lights & backdrop in their Reception area for the headshots part of the shoot - and it involved a lot of hilarity with people swopping shirts/jackets and someone being so tall that they had to crouch onto their knees.

(No i won't be revealing who that is!).

The images are featured in this month's Showhouse Magazine - with many more to follow i'm sure.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone - it's been great working with you all! X

My Top Ten Tips for Holiday photos!

1) Don’t Say Cheese 📸

Sometimes the best shots are when the kids are not aware of the camera.

2) Think about angles 📸

Crouch down & take pictures at the childrens’ level, you’ll see lots of new viewpoints.

3) Zoom in 📸

Zoom in close & pick up some detail to create a storyboard.

4) Use your phone 📸

Don’t risk getting sand/water in your camera, just take your phone instead.

5) Food for thought 📸

Remember to take photos of the delicious food/ vibrant market stalls.

6) Rainy Days! 📸

Not every holiday is sunny!

7) Silhouettes 📸

Just play around with people walking near/away - it makes a powerful shot!

8) Furry Friends 📸

Shoot from their viewpoint!

9) Time of day 📸

No-one likes to squint at the camera, so consider taking photos when the light is gentler (morning/evening) or move to the shade.

10) Make sure YOU are in the photo too! 📸

Pop your phone on a self-timer or buy a little remote control. Here is my wonderful family on a recent holiday to Mexico.
(Truth be told, we were actually in Macclesfield, but you’d never know 😂!)

Most of these photos above were taken on an iPhone and they bring back memories of some wonderful summers gone by. ❤️

Fancy a challenge? Send me your interesting holiday photos, inspired by these top ten tips, as I’d absolutely LOVE to see them.

Have a great summer! X

Are you a fan of historical fiction…& need a gripping read for the summer holidays? 📚

Check out “The Song of Peterloo”, a historical fiction book, based in Manchester in 1819. It follows the story of Nancy, a mill worker, who attends the famous assembly (which then became the Peterloo Massacre) and forever changed our Northern history books.

A story of hope, sacrifice, and above all, courage. ❤️

I recently did Headshots for local author, Carolyn O’Brien, as part of the publicity trail for her next book. I literally could have spent all week with her - she was SO interesting and we had so much to talk about!

Sometimes it’s fascinating to find out where authors find the inspiration and how they carry out their research. Oh yes... all while juggling a busy family life too.

Next spring sees the release of her next book, Rose & Renzo, so keep your eyes peeled.

Congratulations Carolyn on your literary success and good luck with the journey. xx
