had a strong Tournament in the Berkswell and Balsall RFC SVNS, unbeaten until the Final, where they narrowly lost to by a single conversion 10-12. Having beat them in the Group Stage 19-0, they may have expected it to be a simpler match but the Sri Lankan lads brought their a-game to the Final. Such a great day, amazing weather and excellent rugby.

Today I was shooting for two teams at the Berkswell and Balsall RFC SVNS Tournament. And those two teams both made it to the Final!

Honours went to a brand new team - - a team dripping with Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 rugby stars. Some magnificent rugby, winning the Final 12-10, just one conversion splitting the teams.

Congratulations , I’m looking forward to shooting your team next weekend in the LIT 7s.

Privileged to be Shortlisted in Rugby Journal Magazine Rugby Photography Awards 2026. My image, along with all other Shortlisted images will be part of a World Rugby Museum exhibition at Allianz Stadium and printed in the latest copy of the magazine.

Impossible to sum up the final day at the Rugby Europe Conference 1 SVNS Tournament in Andorra for Rugby Austria.

Starting slow against Serbia in Match 3, finding themselves 0-26 down with 5 mins to go and a yellow card against, only to pull it back to a 26-26 draw. Beating Lëtzebuerg Rugby |Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Rugby in the Semi-Final when nobody gave our young team a chance…

Ultimately there was far too many injuries to compete at the level needed to win the Final, but there’s no shame in Silver Place🥈and being promoted into the Trophy Series for 2027.

Well done Rugby Austria.

What a weekend.
Rugby Austria have taken the Silver Medal in the Rugby Europe Conference 1 Tournament in Andorra. For 2026, they selected a much younger squad with six of the squad being U20’s. Kurt Martin’s direction was clear - go out and enjoy this, soak up the experience - no pressure. The squad did exactly that, and repaid that trust with Silver Medals. Youngest team in the Tournament.

Top 2 teams being promoted to the Rugby Europe Trophy Series. Congratulations Rugby Austria.

Was a privilege to be part of this weekend.

Day One of Rugby Europe SVNS tournament in Andorra. Rugby Austria were two from two so ended the day topping their Division.

Victory in Game 1 versus Slovenia; Game 2 versus Bulgaria.

Back tomorrow for Day Two.

Great standard of rugby played in blistering heat and altitude. Looking forward to tomorrow.
