I’m about to start a three-day stint of weddings and… I don’t understand. The floor is wet outside? Apparently this thing called rain still exists? ☔️😅

After what feels like months of photographing weddings in crazy heat and harsh sunshine, I’m actually quite looking forward to creating something a little different over the next few days. And I’m pretty sure a bit of rain isn’t going to stop the celebrations!

Today I’m heading down to London for Sunil & Reshma’s Hindu ceremony — the first of my three weddings.

These photos are actually from when I met up with them earlier in the summer at Highweald Wine Estate. (Highweald)They’d spent the afternoon wine tasting, then we wandered around the estate, took some photos and did our best to hide from the ridiculous heat.

And because I’m shooting more and more film at weddings and pre-wedding shoots, these were all taken on 35mm film 🎞️ thanks to The Liquid Light Lab for developing and scanning these

WWHAT A MONDAY!

Driving into London on a Monday morning — not to sit in an office or spend the day in meetings, but to hang out with an awesome group of people and photograph THIS.

Just a little reminder of how ridiculously fun my job can be.

I genuinely can’t get over how much fun me & Julie Hermann | UK & Destination Wedding Photographer had with Bee & Aaron on Monday. Every frame was filled with colour, love, laughter and SO many smiles.

It was one of those weddings where taking pictures just felt easy, because everywhere you looked there was something happening. So much personality. So much colour. And so much JOY!

Bee & Aaron absolutely smashed organising a wedding that felt completely like them — relaxed, colourful and one massive party. And judging by the smiles, dancing and general chaos, I’m pretty sure their guests had a bloody good time too.

More weddings like this please!

I could help but dive into this pictures from last nights pre-wedding shoot! Made better my being in my local park! I’ve shoot in Jephson gardens hundreds of times, weddings, couples shoots and most recently pictures of my son playing with the ducks.

But last night the park was bathed in the most magical light, and the sun has an amazing way of taking your eyes to parts of the park I had em ever thought about before. I keep seeing new spots and it was joy to chat to Charlie & Guys while we walked around this beautiful spot.

Beth and Loui’s early-summer wedding at Stone Barn, photographed on both 35mm film and digital.

They somehow managed to get some of our best British summer weather. Warm, bright and sunny, without it becoming unbearably hot. Stone Barn looked beautiful and was the perfect countryside setting for such a relaxed celebration.

This carousel shows a selection of similar moments captured in two different ways: one photograph taken digitally and another shot on film.

I’ve really been enjoying my journey into 35mm film wedding photography. Digital allows me to work quickly, react instantly and capture everything happening around me. Film encourages me to slow down, make more deliberate choices and embrace a little unpredictability.

The film photographs were mostly taken on my Nikon F5, using Kodak Gold 200, Kodak Ultramax 400 and Ilford HP5 for the black-and-white images. They were developed and scanned by The Liquid Light Lab, who did a brilliant job with them.

I love how film and digital can capture the same part of a wedding day but create completely different results. Film brings its own colours, grain, texture and character, while digital gives me the flexibility to document all the fast-moving energy of the day.

I’m now putting together a new 35mm film photography option for the rest of my couples getting married this year. For now, I’ll be offering it at cost, covering the price of the film, developing and scanning while I continue building this side of my wedding photography.

I’ve been taking a film camera along to more and more shoots recently, and this week felt like the perfect chance to properly put it to work.

Bee & Aaron’s pre-wedding shoot around Digbeth gave me the excuse to shoot the same moments on both digital and 35mm film. We wandered the streets, grabbed a coffee at Alfred Works, and I put my “new” Nikon F5 through its paces with a roll of Kodak Ultramax.

I’m genuinely loving the results. Film has a character all of its own. It’s not about replacing digital—it just adds something different, and I think the two work brilliantly together.

A huge thank you to The Liquid Light Lab for developing and scanning the film so quickly!

Seeing these come back has got me thinking… I’d love to start offering 35mm film as an optional add-on for my couples this year. I’m planning to launch it as an introductory offer that simply covers the cost of the film and processing while I build it into my workflow.
