What an absolute treat to spend the day with Claire, Jake and their lovely bunch of friends and family on Saturday.

I love a village hall wedding so of course I was delighted when the couple chose me to capture their day. There was loads of handmade loveliness, moments of emotion and a cracking dancefloor.

Busy day charging batteries, checking equipment and packing my bags for this weekend’s weddings.

Let’s be real. The weather forecast is probably not the one my couples were really hoping for.

When I landed at Jessica’s wedding in the Lake District a couple of years ago she said something that has stuck with me. On what was obviously going to be a really wet day she said “last night we took a moment to mourn the wedding day we thought we were going to have and we’ve decided just to embrace it”

And embrace it they did and it’s still one of the best weddings I’ve ever attended.

And what about Grace and James and Ruth and Ed who said sod it and carried on with an outdoor ceremony despite the forecast?

Or my long time loves from 2018, Amber and Matt who braved the puddles and drizzle and still headed out for portraits.

There’s not much to be done about the weather but if you’re getting married this weekend my advice is to take Jessica’s words to heart. It’s ok to be a bit sad that this wasn’t exactly what you’d planned but your biggest regret will be letting that ruin your day. You are still going to be surrounded by loads of lovely people and have a proper lovely day.

And if you’re brave enough to head out with a brolly we can get some pretty great pictures too!

Also I’m not sure if this is something we just tell couples to make them feel better but rain on your wedding day is lucky and I’ve been pushing that line for 13 years so why stop now!

Melissa and Brad booked me for their wedding almost 2 years ago! I vividly remember sitting out in the garden having a pre wedding chat with Melissa that quickly turned to our shared love of reading. Over the past couple of years I’ve quietly watched their wedding planning take place (thanks social media!) and was excited to see they’d been booking some of the industries bests!

So it’s fair to say I was really really looking forward to this one. I knew the couple were going to be a dream to spend the day with and I was very excited to be heading back to Mitton Fold after a long hiatus.

Reader, the day absolutely did not disappoint. The weather was perfect, the guests on form, the team at Mitton were as attentive as ever and all the details came together. Melissa’s hard work paid off. It was a triumph!

Happy Friday!!!!

It’s another lovely weekend for a wedding. Today I’ll be bag packing for my visit to Mitton Hall. It’s Melissa and Bradley’s big day.

It’s been an age since I was last at Mitton so I’m excited to head back and finally meet M&B in person after they booked me for their wedding such a long time ago too.

It was impossible to choose my favourite from LJ and Jack’s wedding last week. So I’m sharing them all!

It was a day of sunshine in every single way, the weather of course but also just the vibe. Friends of the couple were a talented bunch - there were readings and poems, singing and musical performances. Beautiful speeches showing how much the couple were loved.

And we were treated to the most beautiful golden sunset.

I’ve always enjoyed visiting and there’s a chance this might be my last visit as the venue is up for sale (🤞 it’s kept as a wedding venue) but if it is my last time photographing here, I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding and a lovelier couple.
