Well my photography journey has come to an official end, my camera and lenses have been sold, I'll be selling all my hides, bags and other bits of gear soon. I have had an amazing 15 years of photography and 5 years of wildlife, got some amazing photos and seen some amazing wildlife, I got all the photos I ever wanted and now I have just lost the motivation for it.

I have spent the past 12 months debating if I should sell up but thought I'd give myself 1 more summer to see if I get into it again but the camera stayed in its bag so it was time. All packed up and sent to MPB who gave me more than originally quoted which was amazing. I will leave this page open for my memories and may think about posting my drone footage and pictures here.

Thank you to everyone who liked, commented and enjoyed my images and made some good friends along the way.

From wildlife photography to drone photography, something new and exciting to learn and add to the list. This is Holgates Ribble Valley with Pendle hill in the background from the first test flight with the new drone.

A few more close ups of the Golden Plover from the side of the road as it was calling.
The Golden Plover (Pluvialis\ apricaria) is a medium-sized wading bird distinguished by its stunning gold and black breeding plumage, which shifts to a more subdued buff and brown in winter. These highly migratory birds breed on upland moorlands and peat bogs in northern regions, including parts of Scotland, northern England, Wales, and Iceland. In winter, they descend to lowland farmlands, grasslands, and coastal estuaries, often forming large, cohesive flocks. Their diet primarily consists of invertebrates like earthworms, beetles, and other insects. Known for their shy and wary nature on breeding grounds, they can be identified from similar plovers by their pointed wings and distinct gold-colored speckling.

Well didn't expect to see a pair of Golden Plovers at the side of the road while driving to go for a walk. Pulled up the car and sat watching them for a few minutes as they just pottered around at the side of the road and then carried on down the road to then find a short eared owl flying by the side of the car. I'll certainly be going down that road again.

Recent walk around the local patch in Rishton

These little songsters are currently making their presence known as they've arrived back in the UK after their long migration from sub-Saharan Africa. What an incredible journey for such a small bird! 🌍✈️

* Vocal Variety: The male's song is a scratchy, warbling melody, often delivered in a short, tumbling flight display. It's quite distinctive once you learn to recognize it! 🎶

* Master of Disguise: They are experts at nesting in dense vegetation like brambles and thorny bushes, making their nests well-hidden and safe havens for their young. Look closely, and you might just spot one! 👀

* Insectivore Diet: Whitethroats are primarily insect eaters, playing a vital role in controlling insect populations. They'll feast on flies, beetles, caterpillars, and other small invertebrates. 🐛🦋

* Summer Visitors: Sadly, we only get to enjoy their company during the warmer months. They typically arrive in April and May and depart again in August and September. Make the most of their cheerful songs while they're here! 👋

* Conservation Concern: While still a relatively common sight, whitethroat populations have faced declines in the past due to habitat loss and changes in agricultural practices. Supporting wildlife-friendly gardening and conservation efforts can really make a difference for these lovely birds. 🌱

So much for putting the camera down, I had some time off work and the river was calling me.
The bird that got me into wildlife photography in the first place brought me back to it for a few hours. I wouldn't say I'm fully back but I had a full day and even went back out in the evening for the local owls and got some unexpected photos along the way.

Watching this male flying past my hide constantly taking fish back to the nest. It was brilliant to be back by the river early in the morning the kingfisher has never let me down they are always there and usually land within 10 minutes of setting up.

My photography journey has now come to an end I gave myself a year to get myself back out and see if I had the motivation for it but as life moves on in no longer interested, I still took photos but didn't post anything anymore and now I'll still look out for wildlife but don't carry the camera anymore so everything I have is now being sold and this page will be no more.

I have had some amazing trips and journeys with wildlife photography and lots of memories. Thank you to all the people who followed and liked my images and to the people who took me in when I was getting started but after 10 years my camera is down.

It's been a while since my last post as I don't go out with the camera much anymore but this week I'm off work so thought I'd get back out there.

It's been 18 months since I last went down to my local river to see the kingfishers, they never fail. Got my self set up and ready to go and on cue within 10 minutes this female landed on the perch right in front of the camera in the morning sun, she spent 2 hours around me as she caught fish and even jumping off rocks dipping in the river for a quick wash before sitting in the sun and preening.
