Approaching Runway 34L at Istanbul Airport (IST/ LTFM). And the radio is acting up - or is it?

Well, you gonna find out during the final approach.

And the usual question: will it be a butter landing or not?

A normal day at LHR, minimum separation between airplanes, airplanes crossing the Runway while another is on short final.

The daily business of LHR controllers and they do an absolutely incredible job! Kudos to them!

I always enjoy flying into LHR, even if it's an airspace with loads of traffic, the controllers are always calm, polite and assist you as good as they can.
But they expect you to adhere to their instructions as closely as possible so that all this traffic can be handled!

Just another approach, but this time to an airport I have never been before. Cork in Ireland (ORK/EICK).

Nothing special during the approach, 2 airplanes holding short of the runway, waiting for us to land.

But after landing we cannot vacate the Runway as there is no taxiway. So we taxi to the end, make a U- Turn and backtrack on Runway 34.

My longest reel yet. 3m47s. How long are you gonna watch?
I would watch the whole reel, it starts with some heavy rain, then breaking though the clouds and a beautiful landscape comes into view. Later a Runway and a nice final approach and landing.
Who wouldn't wanna watch?

A rare sight in perfect light.

Lufthansa Cargos iconic MD11F soaking up the Dakar sunshine.

There is something special about seeing those tri-Jet workhorse in action. A beautiful combination of aviation history, cargo operations and unique destinations.
Unfortunately Lufthansa Cargo doesn't have any MD11s anymore.
But this particular airplane was flying for UPS untik November 2025 and is stored since then.

Would you prefer the MD11 over some modern twin jets today?
