To celebrate World Photography Day, I’m posting one of my favourite photos of Kyoto in Japan 🇯🇵

Before Tokyo existed, Kyoto was officially recognised as Japan’s imperial capital. That reign lasted for more than a thousand years.

Today, it’s famous for numerous classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses. I visited the city in May, 2018.

The world-famous black-sand beach of Reynisfjara, found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside the small fishing village of Vík í Mýrdal. When I took this photo I had spent the last few hours travelling through snow, rain, sun, storms and hail. It was well worth it.

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Its iconic orange colour wasn’t the original plan. The U.S. Navy had lobbied that the bridge be painted in blue and yellow stripes to increase its visibility. But when the steel arrived in San Francisco painted in a burnt red hue as primer, the consulting architect decided the color was both highly visible—and more pleasing to the eye. The bridge's color is officially called international orange. Shot in April, 2019 📸
