When I say, "these are the last of a series" I really mean, "I took one more look through the memory card and found a few I missed".

This is Utah. Until I met him, I never knew a horse could have a sense of humor. Every time I squatted down to take a photo, he'd sneak up behind me and try to steal (or eat) my hat. Every time! He's got a great personality and really doesn't mind you hanging around. He's very accomodating. Emmeline Duggan

These are the last of this series. It was an amazing Fall shoot with curious Clayton and his sprightly son, Utah. Thanks again, Emmeline, for the opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures! Tell Utah I want my hat back!

I first met Clayton this past summer. I really didn't know what to expect from that photoshoot as I'd never worked with a Friesian before. But if you can imagine a thirteen hundred pound kind and playful dog, that's Clayton. Thanks Emmeline, for an amazing opportunity to get close to such beautiful animals.

She doesn't just look AT you, she looks right THROUGH you. It's as though she's looking into your soul. There's nothing you can hide from her. No lie you could tell that she'd believe. She is the embodiment of elegance and reverence. "Fancy That" is her name and she was the first horse I'd ever photographed in a studio-styled shoot. And while I hid my anxiety well, she picked up on it immediately. She seemed to try to make me comfortable with her goofy antics and curious nature. It worked. My equine photoshoots only take an hour but when I'm with such a noble and placid subject, I wish time could slow to a trickle. It's hard not to feel a spiritual connection with a creature that's been our greatest ally for thousands of years. We can learn so much from them.

Came across an old hard drive yesterday and got excited when I found a few old unedited pics of the lovely "Fancy That" of Team Irwin Dressage from a photoshoot I did in 2023. It's sometimes nice to go back in time. ❤
