I'm excited to announce that I'll be serving as the Official Tournament Photographer for the 2026 Canada Cup International Softball Championship!

From July 3–12, some of the top softball talent from across Canada, the United States, and around the world will be competing in Surrey, BC, with the Women's International Championship taking place July 6–12 at Softball City. The Canada Cup has grown into one of the premier international softball events in North America, bringing together national teams, elite club programs, and future collegiate athletes.

I'm honoured to be trusted with capturing the moments, emotions, and stories that make this event so special. Whether it's championship celebrations, game-winning plays, or the behind-the-scenes moments that fans don't always see, I'll be there to document it all.

A huge thank you to the Canada Cup organizing committee for the opportunity. I can't wait to get back to the diamonds this summer and help showcase the incredible athletes, coaches, and teams that make this tournament one of the highlights of the softball season.

Had to jump on the Pixel Stretch trend. 🎨🏒

It's always fun finding new ways to bring a little extra creativity into sports photography. The pixel stretch effect can turn a single action shot into something that feels fast, dynamic, and completely different from the original image.

A couple quick tips if you want to try it:
📸 Start with a photo that has a strong subject and clean background.
➡️ Stretch in the direction of the movement to enhance the feeling of speed.
🎯 Don't overdo it—keeping the athlete sharp helps maintain the impact of the image.

POV: this trend actually makes you rethink your composition 👀📸🥎
One of my favorite things about sports photography is how a simple crop or line shift can completely change the feeling of an image. The grid bend effect really shows how strong framing, body positioning, and negative space can guide the viewer’s eye right to the emotion of the moment. 🇨🇦🔥
A few sports photography tips I always keep in mind: • Use leading lines to pull attention toward your subject
• Leave space around athletes for movement and emotion
• Don’t be afraid to crop tighter for impact
• Look for reactions — celebration shots tell the story just as much as the action
• Background separation makes your subject stand out instantly

I’m someone who crops a lot, especially shooting sports where having a longer lens would definitely help — but right now I’m mainly working with my 70–200mm. One thing I’ve really learned is that cropping can completely transform an image. A strong crop can change the entire feel of a photo, bring more focus to the moment, and make the shot far more impactful.

Here are some tips!

1. Crop with the action in mind
Make the athlete or key moment the clear focal point. Remove distractions like empty field space, random players, or cluttered backgrounds that pull attention away from the action.

2. Leave space in the direction of movement
If a player is running, skating, or looking in a certain direction, leave a bit of room in front of them. It helps the image feel more natural and dynamic instead of cramped.

3. Don’t be afraid of tight crops
Sports photography often benefits from tighter framing. Cropping closer can emphasize emotion, intensity, and detail — especially during celebrations, collisions, or high-energy moments.
Pay attention to body parts and equipment

4. Avoid awkward cuts at joints like knees, elbows, wrists, or ankles when possible. Also watch for accidentally cutting off important elements like sticks, balls, gloves, or helmets unless it’s intentional for composition.

5. Use cropping to improve storytelling
Cropping isn’t just for fixing framing — it can completely change the story of an image. A wider crop may show the environment and atmosphere, while a tighter crop can highlight emotion, determination, or the battle between players.
