If the sky was overcast, I want you to remember the softness of that day.

If you spent months choosing the exact shade for your bridesmaid dresses, that’s the colour I want you to see in your photos years from now 👗

Your skin should look like your skin.
Your flowers should look like your flowers.
Your day should feel the way it actually felt.

Someday these photos aren’t just going to be for you.

Your kids might look through them and laugh at your shoes. Your grandkids might want to know what perfume you wore. They’ll see the jewelry you carefully chose, the invitations, the flowers, the cologne sitting beside his cufflinks…all those tiny details that made up a day they weren’t there to witness.

But for real, it’s VERY chic to actually live your wedding day instead of everything being perfect.

Your hair should get messy, your dress should get dirty, you should ugly cry, champagne will get spilled, dance floor mosh pit…. That’s the food s**t. Don’t sweat the small stuff & enjoy the day you spent so long planning ⚡️

Plot twist: apparently I have more to say than “golden hour is at 7.” 😂

I’m 41. A serial entrepreneur. A recovering people pleaser. A mom of two incredible humans. A photographer. A girl’s girl annnnnd like all of us, a person doing this whole life thing for the first time 🙋🏻‍♀️

I’ve experienced birth + grief. Love + heartbreak. Success + some spectacular fu***ng failures. I’ve doubted myself, lost myself, found myself… and changed my mind approximately 700 times along the way. ADHD is my superpower and also, can I sometimes pay attention better? Geez, girl. 😅

Photography has taught me a lot about looking at life through different lenses but being a photographer is only one little piece of who I am.

So I’m starting a little series for the girls. Things I’ve learned, unlearned, healed from, laughed about and REALLY wish someone had told me sooner.

I’m not doing this because I have life figured out but because maybe we can figure some of it out together 👏

J + M did exactly that. We wandered around DISTRICT 1881 in Chilliwack, laughed a lot, danced, ignored the nearby crowds, and let the session unfold naturally. The result? Photos that actually feel like them, giggles included 😘
