Last night I was in a room full of people wearing masks. Thank goodness they were fancy masquerade masks, worn with fancy attire. That made it much easier to photograph and enjoy the evening 🙂 Enjoy the photos! Two things to talk about this morning.
One~ As many of you might be aware, I don't share a lot on here anymore. Social media (facebook/instagram) has never been a friend of mine, I'm just not much of a public person, and I feel a little hypocritical sharing my clients images when I don't share a lot of my own. Having said that, I am going to be using my blog a lot more in the coming months, because it just makes more sense to me, it's mine, it doesn't depend on an algorithm, and it can't be yanked out from underneath me overnight.
Two ~ (and this one is REALLY tough for me to write)
It's time to share the news. After nearly 20 years of leasing a full time studio, I have decided to give it up. I am NOT shutting down my business, I still LOVE to pick up my camera for the people who's story truly moves me. As many of you know, and for those who don't, for the last 2 ish years I had been sharing my studio space with Jen from Just Breathe Healing & Fitness. It's been a beautiful collaboration. The energy inside the space was/is always beautiful. Having a steady flow of good vibes was exactly what I and my business needed. I handled it well because of my low volume business model.
Until I didn't. I became complacent in my marketing efforts. I lost sight of why I even opened my studio in the first place. Meanwhile, I was pushing down a feeling that kept coming to the surface. I was just done with full time studio ownership. And I can't deny the feeling that was always surrounding me, I need "something else" to fill my cup. I have always had a love for helping people. So I'm not sure where this leaves me but sometimes uncertainty is what can start the wheels turning. I am still taking clients, and still able to rent space at Just Breathe but you won't find me there if you just happen to be driving by. My sign will be taken down in the near future, and I will be happily living my "gypsy photographer" life. . . . hmmm, maybe a name change is in my future? I can see it now, "Gypsy Photo", we travel to you 🤩

P.S. I want to thank all of my clients past,present and future, who have (and will) shared their most intimate moments with me, YOU are the reason I am here. YOU are the reason I still love photography. 🥰

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ABBA and was so stoked to see that this song was available to use for my post. These ladies have grown up together, well, mostly during summer holidays they’ve been campground neighbors. Which I think is so amazing, reminds me of the penpal I used to have that I really should try to find again!! Anyhoo, during my own summer vacation to the Shuswap I happily joined in on their beach shenanigans and these are some of the results ☺️

Always showing up to my sessions at least half an hour early so I can photograph all the beauty around me. This gorgeous display can be found at the gardens at the Lacombe Memorial Center. This afternoon I got to make some memories for a very sweet couple before they said their "I do's" and it was quite honestly the sweetest thing I've witnessed in a long time. 🥰

Took a little vacation to the Shuswap 🌞 Did I need this or what, even though I ended up catching a cold 4 days in, this little break was exactly what my body and soul needed. I’m grateful for the family and friends I got to visit, the portrait sessions I got to shoot, the food I was able to eat (and taste! 🤧), the beach I got to be lazy on, the BC berries I got to bring home, the games I got to play, the reading I had time for, the endless swimming the dogs got to do. All of it. I’m sad I had to cancel plans because the cold followed me home, but I know this break is needed. I hope you’re all having an amazing summer so far and I hope to cross paths with you during the beautiful days we have left of it 🌞😍😘

I just can’t even. How cute are these two? It seems like just yesterday that I was wishing Bailey and my oldest would grow up and fall in love with each other 🥹😂 Well that’s obviously not happening because just look at how Michael looks at her, and how happy they both are 😍💍. Bailey & Michael, thank you for asking me to travel to your beautiful little neck ‘o the woods to photograph this joyous occasion. I couldn’t have been more honoured. 😘
