I don’t usually post my lil’ diptychs on IG, cause they feel like they needed their own space on the blog to be a ´project’. But does any leave IG anymore to visit blogs? Probably not.

So throwing it up here cause I’m constantly working to be less precious about sharing. And this photo really resonated with me this morning.

Literally walk outside every morning to check on my tulips. One of these days I’ll find my first flower, but in the meantime I’ll just have settle for these photos from Keukenhof and keep my fingers crossed that the snow is really gone this time.

One of those perfect nights, you know what I mean ✨

Heading to ’s home for a wet plate workshop was the unexpected highlight of my year. You better believe I’m already plotting ways to head back.

Developed my first roll of colour film from Japan! I did a terrible job labeling each roll, so it was a really fun surprise to see that the random one I had grabbed was shot on our very first morning together in Japan. Bright and early and jet-lagged.

We arrived at a shrine in Kamakura to find it being meticulously cared for. There was so much to see but I found myself drawn to this. The careful sweeping of every path. The puddles from the previous nights rain being soaked up with a sponge and released to a bucket.

Taking a moment this morning to remind myself of how much beauty I have seen in the world.

Deep exhale.

It was needed. I needed this.

A reminder of all the little corners, the in-between moments that hold the good things.

A reset.

These photos are kind of random. Of the french country side. I was looking for a reference photo yesterday for a painting class, when I stumbled across this folder of photos. Photos that I had dismissed as meh. But this time, the double exposure of roses stopped me in my tracks. Why now, years later was this suddenly captivating to me. I kept looking and saw so much more beauty on that same roll of film that I had overlooked.

So here they are. A reminder to look again. To pause. To find the beauty. I’m convinced now more than ever that we need art as resistance. Art as rest. Art as recovery. Art just for the joy of it.

I still have almost half my film from Cuba to develop…. It’s sort of silly. I could send it to a lab, I suppose. But maybe it’s fine that it takes so long. Kinda of like savouring a really good meal?

On that note, I have been seriously debating offering film portraits this summer. And questioning whether or not I can do all the developing myself. I actually really love it, but it does make an already slow chemical process even slower.

If you knew you had to wait a month+ to get your photos, would that stop you from booking?

Its been a while since I posted a photo of my own face on this silly little grid. This one is a Polaroid taken by my friend . You can actually see her in it. Or her hand anyways, the darker lines coming in from the left side, across my face and body are her fingers. The heat of her body causing the chemical reaction to be altered any place she was touching it.

A mistake, a happy little accident, another little tid-bit of knowledge to use in the right place at the right time.

Whatever you wanna call it. I love that she is in the photo with me!
