Aha Creative Sunshine Coast Graphic Design Studio with a focus is on helping hospitality and events brands shine through carefully curated visuals.

Specialists in brand design, strategy and content that hits home. Anna Hartley embarked on her creative journey at Griffith College of Art in Brisbane, where she proudly earned her Bachelor of Photography degree in 2012, with a specialization in photojournalism. This academic pursuit not only fulfilled her love of learning and creativity, but also kindled her passion for visual storytelling. Since those formative years, Anna's career has evolved through diverse experiences in Photography, Business, and Marketing. In 2019, she took a significant step forward by enrolling in Graphic Design studies at Billy Blue College of Art in Brisbane, enriching her creative skills further. These days, Anna's time is spent between her role as Graphic Designer at The Branding Business, where she works with corporate companies to produce outstanding branding and merchandise pieces, and her own business, where her focus is on brand story telling through a blend of Graphic Design and Photography. Amidst this, she also embarks on the adventure of keeping up with her energetic toddler, Cooper, and finding moments with her husband, Callan whenever she can.

A small Instagram following doesn’t tell the whole story of a local business’s visibility.

During the last four months, I've worked with The Window on its rebrand and ongoing social media: bringing the identity through to signage, stickers and print, and creating content around real products, promotions and café moments.

Swipe through to see the results.

The numbers aren’t a guarantee that the same results will happen for every café. They are a useful reminder that building visibility can mean more than growing a follower count. Make it easier for people to recognise your business wherever they come across it.

Thanks, Jake, Iohan & Beth, for trusting me with The Window’s branding and socials!

I may have let a little sneak peek slip onto my stories the other night… 👀

Now the LIVURE logo is officially approved — first go, no changes — and I can finally share a little more of what’s taking shape.

This one’s been fun to bring to life. More soon.

Free stock photos with expensive w**e bar energy. 🍷

If I were launching a w**e bar, these are the Unsplash images I’d shortlist. A little moody, a little messy, very “we’ll just stay for one more”.

The trick to stock imagery that doesn’t scream STOCK IMAGERY? Choose photos that feel like they belong to the same night.

→ Pick a photographic direction. Direct flash and candid moments? Dim lighting and deep shadows? Choose a feel before you start downloading.

→ Look for movement. A hand pouring, someone reaching across the table, a little blur. Give the image something to do.

→ Welcome the imperfections. Crumpled linen, w**e rings, half-finished plates. The good bits rarely look perfectly arranged.

→ Think beyond the w**e glass. Textures, table details and little moments can say more about the atmosphere than another cheers shot.

→ Curate the set. Similar colour, lighting and energy help different photographers’ images feel connected.

Use stock to set the mood before you have your own shoot—then let real photos introduce your actual space, food and people.

Save this for your next hospitality moodboard. Freeee photos, considered choices. That’s the sweet spot.

Running a business is a lot of things. Creative, rewarding, exciting… and sometimes a bit relentless.

There’s the actual work: the client projects, emails, quotes, invoices, planning, problem-solving and all the little jobs that somehow take up a whole afternoon.

And then there’s showing up online.

Thinking of an idea. Filming it. Watching it back and deciding your face looks weird. Refilming it. Editing. Writing a caption. Finding the right words, the right hook, the right audio. Posting it… and then trying not to check whether anyone has liked it every five minutes.

Because apparently running a business now also means being your own marketing team, content creator, social media manager and occasionally your own hype person.

I love sharing what I do. I love meeting other small business owners here, and I know being visible helps people find me. But keeping up a constant stream of content can make even the thing you love feel like another item on an already very long to-do list.

Some weeks I have ideas for days. Other weeks I’m just trying to get the client work done and remember what day it is.

So if you’re also running a business and finding it hard to post consistently: you’re not doing it wrong. You’re a person doing a lot of jobs at once. The algorithm can wait while you have a cup of tea and finish the work that actually pays the bills.

Here’s to showing up when we can, taking a breather when we need to, and remembering that our businesses are more than what we manage to post about them.

Is your brand having an identity crisis, or is your to-do list just being a menace?

Maybe your business has grown up and your branding missed the memo. Maybe you love the brand, but the menus, social posts and marketing materials aren’t going to design themselves. Rude, honestly.

Before you jump into a rebrand, follow the flowchart to work out what you actually need: a brand refresh, ongoing graphic design support or a clearer direction.

I’m Anna, the designer behind Aha Creative on the Sunshine Coast. I help hospitality, events and small businesses across Australia bring their brand design and marketing materials together - with personality and a plan.

Send me a DM with what feels stuck. You don’t need a perfect brief. “Help, it’s a bit of a mess” is a perfectly good starting point.
