As a tired elderly millennial… I have a theory. What if we’re not hormonal… we’re just not eating enough?
Because we grew up being told everything was bad. Bread, carbs, sugar, fruit… at some point it felt like the safest option was to just eat as little as possible and call it discipline. And now here we are, running businesses, raising kids, doing a million things for everyone else… on coffee and air.
I’ll pack my son a full day of proper food like a functioning adult, then walk out the door with a latte and a “I’ll eat later” lie I tell myself every morning. By mid afternoon I’m starving, foggy, slightly irritated… and still pushing through.
This week I was teaching a group of 16 year old dancers and the way they spoke about food stopped me. They eat to perform. To think. To have energy. No drama, no rules, no identity attached to it. Just fuel!!!
And I sat there thinking… why have we made this so complicated?
I’ve been deep in my health lately, doing all the tests trying to figure out why I feel so tired. And the answer was not groundbreaking.
I’m hungry.
Not broken, not perimenopausal, not burnt out. Just under-fuelled.
So if you’re a busy founder or mum and you feel like you’re running on fumes… before you go down another rabbit hole, just check in with the basics.
Food. Water. Actual fuel.
Nothing works without it.
Anyway, this is your reminder that eating is not cheating.
The cool girls are eating now. Eat the carbs.
