I wanted to share this tiny Super 8 snippet that Brad (a wedding industry friend who shoots beautiful super8 videos ) filmed of me earlier this year, back when nothing at all was amiss. We were shooting a wedding together, hiding behind a wall with a sneaky beer, laughing at the ridiculous family photos I had just wrangled. It was one of those silly, warm little moments you only get with someone you love working alongside.
I had no idea how precious it would become.
Two weeks ago we worked together again. And something just felt off. He was not himself, and as the day went on he became more and more unwell. I was really worried about him. When he finally made the long drive back home to Newcastle, I made him promise to message me so I would know he got home safely, and he did.
But by the next morning he could not remember anything from the wedding we had just shot together. By Sunday afternoon he was in hospital. They found a large tumour deep in his brain.
This week Brad was diagnosed with Grade 4 glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive cancer. Surgery was not possible, and treatment would not have changed the outcome. He has deteriorated so quickly. He has lost mobility, he is sleeping almost constantly, and he can no longer communicate in the way he once could.
Today he will be gently sedated so he can stay peaceful and comfortable until he passes away naturally.
His wife Kelly and their nine year old twin girls are in complete shock. Their whole world has changed in a matter of days.
I have helped set up a GoFundMe to help ease some of the practical load so they can focus on being together through this heartbreak. If you are able to donate or share the link, it means more than you know.
Link is in bio - lease share 🙏💔
Thank you for keeping this beautiful family in your thoughts.
