This was the first wedding I shot entirely on film, as requested by Ari and Alex. The year was 2020 - this wedding reminds me of the before times, right before the storm. Ari and Alex were a dream. This day was a dream. Everyone there was completely present, experiencing love and life. The beach.. how could a beach be this beautiful, blue and empty, a bright blue canvas - I remember asking Ari to put her bouquet in the sky, the colours just felt right.. this would start my obsession with the ‘sky bouquet’ shot. The ribbons flying in the wind, so beautifully put together by Alice.

We are feeling reminiscent of the OG Runaway weddings that started this dream of capturing love on film, we can’t wait to share more with you over the feed in the coming weeks + months. Nowadays Bibi is our incredible travelling artist photographer and I (Kara) am mostly chilling out with the family on the south coast. Weddings like these have our hearts. The Runaway Hearts was dreamt up to capture not just Love on Film, but to tell unique stories, encourage presence, to prioritise play over posing, and to celebrate all the beauty of flowers, forevers and gathering with friends and family in one glorious day of happiness.

Our wish is that our couples truly feel their wedding day, so their gallery is not just a collection of distant memories, but a map of a day they lived fully, they cherished deeply, they laughed through and they smiled through, until their cheeks are sore with joy.

Stephy and Joe’s Wedding, held in the small coastal town of Crescent Head, was extraordinary in the ways that matter the most. A day rich in laughter, where the sun shone and everyone’s tears of happiness glistened, the way adventures were had, and moments of spontaneity created iconic stories that will live to be told forever and a day.

Elly + Seb filled our lens with colour, joy, thoughtful details, romantic touches and the most iconic, eye catching pink veil! This was a love we will never forget, captured in some of our favourite city places, their day felt authentic, unique and vibrant. Just the way love should be!

Vanessa + Chris married at The Brisbane Powerhouse and their vision came alive with its timeless elegance, meeting vibrant light hearted joy. The backdrops were diverse from the classic Queenslander feel of their getting ready location, to the bold towering brick architecture of The Powerhouse, to the unique floral colour palette of burgundy, plum and ivory that filled the reception space set over looking the water. The couple were blessed with a giant double rainbow that left everyone in awe. Congratulation V + C, your Wedding was a special one.
