A bittersweet day.

Today was the final day the Kingston Bike Park opened its gates. This place has been more than dirt and timber for me, it’s where I’ve spent countless hours with my boys, camera in hand (and riding myself), watching them meet new friends, push their limits, and grow their confidence on two wheels. We’ve built memories here that I’ll carry forever.

What stings is the gap that follows. We’re being told it could be up to two years before a proper replacement is ready, if the council’s timeline holds. In the meantime, there’s talk of a small temporary pump track in Kingston, and while that’s something, it’s not a true substitute for a full park where kids can safely progress, challenge themselves, and stay off screens for hours at a time. Spaces like this matter. They build community, resilience, and joy.

To everyone I’ve photographed here, the little groms, the weekend shredders and parents watching from the bench, thank you. Your energy made this park what it was.

I’ll be sharing some photo's from today as a tribute to the riders and the stories this place gave us. If you rode here, drop your favorite memory below. Let’s make sure the people planning the next chapter hear what this park meant to our community.

Notes:

The park is now closed as demolition work begins.
A temporary pump track is expected in Kingston, but it won’t replicate the features needed for real skill progression.
The current guidance points to a potential two-year wait for a full replacement.
Here’s to the next build and to keeping our riders rolling until then.

The final game of the tournament saw Tassie take on Victoria in a hard-fought clash. It was a tight contest, with Tassie taking the lead and Victoria fighting back on three separate occasions. Final Score 3-3.

It wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but it was an incredible game to watch and capture. Congratulations to the Tassie team on a strong tournament—plenty of “what could have beens,” but just as many great takeaways to be proud of.

As always, Flowline Photography is proud to be on the sidelines capturing these moments. 📸

It was always going to come down to a moment.

The boys left everything out there against WA Black in a game balanced on a knife’s edge from the first whistle to the last. Every contest was fierce, every possession earned. It could have broken either way at any second.

But sometimes, sport is cruel.

A stroke awarded to WA changed everything — and they made it count. From there, Tassie pushed, searched, fought for a way back in… but the goal just wouldn’t come. Not for lack of effort, not for lack of heart.

A 1–0 result in a game that deserved nothing less than everything.

Proud of the fight. Hurting for the outcome.

A tight quarter-final battle for the girls against the A.C.T at the Australian Hockey Championships U16, with very little separating the two sides all game.

After a tense, scoreless opening half, A.C.T found a breakthrough in the third quarter. From there, the Tassie girls lifted—applying relentless pressure and earning multiple penalty corners in the closing stages—but the equaliser just wouldn’t come.

A strong, determined performance full of effort and intent. The focus now shifts to the final two days as they fight it out for a top-five finish.

An early start for the Tassie boys in the 9:30am clash against the Northern Territory at the Australian Hockey Championships U16.

It wasn’t the cleanest performance, with the game getting a little scrappy at times, but the boys showed grit when it mattered—holding on to secure a hard-fought 3–2 win. Plenty of determination on display and a result they’ll be happy to take as the tournament rolls on.

Heartbreak for the boys in a gripping contest, going down 2–1 to Queensland Gold after a marathon penalty shootout. Locked at 1–1 after full time.

A tense shootout followed, with Hamish McGuire pulling off some outstanding saves, but it was Queensland who ultimately edged ahead. A tough result, but a performance full of fight and character.

Game 3 delivered from the very first whistle — a high-intensity clash with both sides going toe-to-toe all game.

It remained locked at 0–0 deep into the final quarter, with neither team giving an inch. Western Australia managed to break through in the last five minutes, sneaking in the decisive goal.

A tough 0–1 result for Tassie, but plenty to be proud of. A strong, determined performance that sets the tone heading into the next matchup against Queensland 💪

Game 1 for the Tasmanian Boys U16 team was looking strong, with Tasmania leading 2–1 until the final 10 minutes. Unfortunately, NSW managed to score two quick goals in succession to take the game 3–2.

Another closely contested match, with Tassie showing they’re a team not to be taken lightly.

Day 1 of the Hockey Australia U16 National Championships kicked off today—and what a day it was! It’s fantastic to see all the teams here in Hobart enjoying some great hockey on our turf.

The Hockey Tasmania U16 Girls played Queensland this morning and went down 4–1 in a great game.
