Picked up a runner up in the open category for my light and shade image and sold my sunflower image that was entered into the themed category - inspired by literature. The poem Ah! sunflower being the inspiration for the image

With the state photo conference to help organise last year, I entered very few photos to our club competitions. Without that as an excuse or distraction I have so far entered all four club topics and had some fun doing it.

Dardanup Art Trail time of year again. Took out the win in the open category for my image of a girl in the woods and a special mention for my composite image I call ‘Humanity’. Pretty happy with that!

Camera Club 2024 - Wrap Up

I didn't enter as many images as I have in the past few years. Motivation and time not always being kind to me in 2024 ;)

I am content with being awarded a Highly Commended for my Mono Image titled - Holding On. This was awarded by Christian Fletcher and his critique is below.

Christian Fletcher: What a clever image. A great example of a strong and interesting composition. They say you should never cut off someones head but in this case it was brilliantly spotted. From the dress that almost disappears into the background, the old shoes and the reflection in the water holding onto the small plant clinging to life. A metaphor that the future is in our hands. Well done

My other personal achievement and highlight was being awarded a Gold Award with a score of 100 (out of 100) from the guest judge for my composite - Humanity. I created this image from 5 images I took at an old bunker located on the cliff edges of Jurien. I thought the graffiti art was brilliant and I made the composite as an interpretation of what I think the Artist was depicting - the light and dark sides of humanity.

Finally my two favourite images of the year (couldn't decide on one) are for two completely different reasons. The girl in the woods, because I saw the image in my head, took the shot in the middle of the day and learnt new editing techniques to make it look night with a lit lantern. The second being the building just because the simplicity of it appeals to me.

I had fun with this topic - A touch of red. A bronze and a silver from camera club last night.
