Stick-nest Brown Paper Wasp (Ropalidia revolutionalis).

One of Brisbane's smallest paper wasp species, only around 10mm, with a dark reddish-brown body and banded abdomen. Not aggressive unless you disturb their nest which is a neat sight itself, built from small stick-like combs hanging off branches and made from a mix of their saliva and decaying wood that they have chewed on.

Went on a macro photography outing at Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. Its an absolute treasure trove of wildlife and insects there if you know where to look and take the time to simply observe.
