I’ve really been having fun with photography lately. And this session was exactly that - fun!

We had a little hiccup at the start with a big event on next door to the original basketball court we had planned on shooting at (and all the streets were closed off as a result 🥲). But we were able to quickly pivot to another court near by. Thanks Maps 👏

My approach to newborn photography really isn’t all that different to how I approach my family sessions.

I follow your little one’s lead, keep poses relaxed and instead of trying to make a moment look perfect, we keep it real. And if that means a giant Bluey plushy makes it’s way into a few frames, then so be it 😂

The biggest difference between my newborn sessions and my family sessions is time.

These sessions are typically twice as long, meaning there’s time for resettles, changes, grabbing snacks for the toddler and soaking in all those beautiful newborn cuddles.

This September, I’m excited to be sharing a very special series of sessions that are inspired by you. These sessions focus on your own traditions, rituals, hobbies and the little things that you enjoy doing with your family or partner.

Instead of curating picture perfect outfits for the beach or a grassy field, we’ll be documenting the moments that already make your life special. Maybe that’s spending a Sunday morning at your local skatepark, sharing an ice cream by the beach from your favourite ice cream shop, baking cookies with your kids or running through the sprinkler on a warm spring afternoon.

The result is a gallery that feels personal, because it is.

I’ve put together a few activity ideas on here, as well as more over on my website but the sky is the limit!

I‘m a big believer that everyone deserves to have their memories captured. As someone who is intensely sentimental, the increased cost of living saddens me, as I know for many, photos are one of the first things to be taken out of the budget.

I’m not here to guilt you or tell you to give up coffee or whatever for X amount of weeks so you can afford photos, because for many, they are already doing that.

Sophie + Blake 🩷

One of the best things about this job is when you get to be in on the surprises. After Sophie and Blake’s engagement session, Sophie reached out to ask if I was available to photograph their wedding… but with a catch!

Their guests were invited to celebrate their “engagement” at Loft West End, only to be surprised on arrival with a sign welcoming them to Sophie and Blake’s wedding.

I think one of my favourite parts from their day was watching the reactions as guests arrived. Some took awhile and some I think had already guessed.

It was such a special day watching these two speak of their love in front of all their family, friends, their little boy and with a sweet little baby girl on the way too 💕

Now… what’s the next surprise going to be?

A few moments with this beautiful family by the water ❤️

They spotted planes, kept their eyes peeled for whale sharks and Paw Patrol, tickled and gave big cuddles as they spent the afternoon freezing this moment in time.
