Capturing those fleeting moments with the Sony A7V meant preserving every detail of shadow and light, bringing the beauty of the dunes to life.

This week we're featuring .visualsvrg, a creator telling stories through authentic visuals that keep audiences engaged from start to finish. 🎥

"My name is Ethan van Roon-Gifford, a videographer based in the Garden Route. I’ve been creating content for the past eight years, with a focused shift into videography over the last three. I’m particularly drawn to video as it allows for deeper storytelling, more than photography.

For this shoot, I experimented with a dynamic setup to capture a variety of perspectives. Handheld shots were captured using a Sony FX30 paired with a 16mm f/1.2, allowing for a wide, cinematic feel. For stabilized movement, I used a Sony FX30 with a Sony 50mm f/1.8 mounted on a gimbal, adding a more controlled and polished look to the footage.

Most of the shoot was captured with the following settings: ISO 200 Shutter Speed 1/320 Aperture ranging between f/2.8 and f/4.2"

Capturing raw, unfiltered moments, transforms the unplanned into captivating visual stories.

My name is Jacques, also known as FilmedByJacques, a 25-year-old videographer based in Paarl, South Africa. I’m currently freelancing while building my creative business. I love filming everything from sports and travel to everyday life, with a strong passion for capturing real emotions and telling meaningful stories.

In my final year of studies in 2024, I picked up a camera and started filming my friends as a hobby. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and never imagined it would turn into a career. At the beginning of 2025, I committed to going full-time, and since then, I’ve been grateful to receive incredible opportunities. In such a short time, I’ve experienced unforgettable moments and met amazing people. That’s one of the things I love most about this industry; it brings people together.

I like to think of myself as a fly on the wall when filming. I’m drawn to documentary-style storytelling; capturing raw, unscripted moments without acting or second takes. My goal is always to create content with depth and meaning, rather than focusing purely on aesthetics.

There are so many talented filmmakers who inspire me, and I’m constantly learning and pushing myself to grow. I’ve always been passionate about sport, so being on the sidelines with a camera in hand feels natural to me. I also love travelling and exploring new places, and I make it a priority to document those experiences wherever I go.

I currently shoot on the Sony A7 IV, paired with a 24-70mm and 70-200mm. It’s easily one of the best investments I’ve made. The A7 IV is a reliable workhorse that consistently delivers everything I need and more.
