My name is Rozane van Heerden and I quit my teaching job to become a stay-at-home mom to my 10month old baby boy. It’s what has been missing. Weddings really are my absolute favourite! I get so excited about them I can leap through fields barefoot!

Rain is one of the biggest fears couples have…
and almost every time, it turns your wedding day into something unexpectedly beautiful.  
 
Yeah you were dreaming of golden light and sun-kissed canapés but we cannot control it. 
 
But what happens when it does rain?  
 
The day slows down. We pivot and adapt. Your wedding day plays out exactly as it was meant to and that’s all that matters.  
 
You get married, celebrate and have the best experience with the people you love the most!

Remember the 24hrs in my life reel? This is the shoot I did that afternoon. I drove out to a sugar cane farm in Wartburg to meet up with Amy and French for their shoot ahead of their wedding. I made them frolic in the field with the fur babies and then we slowed down to enjoy that gorgeous sunset peeking out from behind the rainy clouds. It was magic and I am looking forward to seeing them again on Saturday. you are going to make a very beautiful bride!

To all the new people following along this wild wild journey of motherhood, wedding photography and just life in general. 
 
Hey! I am Rozane. A mother, wife and creative. I have been doing this photo thing for almost 6 years.  
 
I don’t take for granted the absolute blessing it is to be invited into peoples lives - their vulnerable and beautiful moments. If you are new here and know nothing about me, let’s get you up to speed.  
 
I have four kids.  
I almost died during childbirth last year due to a placental complication (extra grateful to be alive and kicking).  
I love coffee mugs. Nothing says ‘I love you’ like a mug.  
 
Why weddings?  
 
It’s the realness of it. The moments when your dad wipes that tear off his face before any notices. It’s your granny’s hug and smiles as you see guests who have traveled from far and wide to celebrate with you.  
 
It’s more than photos it’s a story. It’s not just a ticking things off the wedding day checklist. It’s an experience and one you need to fully present for. Not rushed, not worried about the next thing.  
 
How do you do that?

What do these photos have in common? They are all spontaneous, unposed and uninterrupted.  
 
That’s my vibe. Calm and present brides have a much better wedding day experience and enjoy the moments that matter the most.  
 
I remain unobtrusive during special moments and only interact when I must. My couples must enjoy their canapés with their guests and being your fun-loving self is encouraged.  
 
I shoot for you and who you are. I don’t shoot for the Gram or my portfolio because it’s not about me. ✌🏻

For the brides - The morning of your wedding can go one of two ways - calm and collected or dog show.  
 
Sometimes choas will be out of your control and then there are things we can do to help keep things calm and collected.  
 
• Keep your details like jewellery, veil, rings, flowers, perfume and other special keepsakes together for your photographer so you are scratching around looking for stuff when they arrive.  
• Get your hair and make-up done sooner rather than later. This gives you time to have some bridal portraits before getting dressed and will leave you feeling calm. I have had to many brides get out of the chair, jump into their dress and make haste to the alter.  
• Keeping you dressing space clean and tidy from the get go means we don’t have to scramble to get the space photo ready. All the clutter is definitely a distraction. It’s like trying to cook in a messy kitchen. Everyone is overwhelmed.  
• Pick a bridesmaid to be in charge of all and any emergencies, vendor contact person and go between for the groom/groomsmen. You don’t want any of these things taking up mental space hours before your wedding.
