DM for prints I'm a multi-award-winning photojournalist based in Cape Town, South Africa.

My work has taken me to some of the most remote parts of Africa telling compelling stories of innovation, environmental conservation as well as technology. I've written stories about esports, rats that can sniff out land mines and one time was locked in an industrialized freezer to see if a jacket was warm. I've worked for Business Insider South Africa as well as Forbes Africa Magazine, both franchises of the international brands.

Blue Hour Bay. Cape Town's iconic harbour cranes emerge through a blanket of fog draped over the CBD. A photograph I've been chasing for years, finally captured after waiting for that perfect balance of cloud density to swallow the city below while leaving just enough of the skyline peeking through.

Time for some shameless self-promotion. A big thank you to DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town for trusting me with chasing the vision of capturing the sunrise of your hotel.

A bit more about the photo:
Patience isn’t just part of photography, sometimes it is the photograph.
Back in October, the team at DoubleTree by Hilton brought me in with what sounded like a simple brief. Capture the building at sunrise, glowing in golden light.
Simple on paper. But not so simple in reality.
It took over a month of early alarms and checking forecasts for a gap.
On 27 November, it finally came together. That meant being in position well before 05h30, ready for it.
As the sky started to lift, it was clear the window would be tight. Just a few minutes of usable light before the clouds rolled in and shut it all down. The wind was pumping too, which made it even trickier to lock things in with the longest exposure.
Three glorious frames. That’s all the light allowed before it disappeared.

Reliving a moment where Cape Town felt unreal, as the fog rolled in, slow, soft, and completely in control.
