Some things start with a window.

Last summer, Jules was walking down the street mid-renovation, hunting for light fixtures for the studio when she spotted a new space she hadn’t seen before. The sign said interior design. She pressed her face to the glass. They were closed, but Marty saw her anyway and came to the door.

“We haven’t officially opened yet. But do you want to come in and check it out?”

These are the kind of people this series was made for.

Last week, we celebrated their one-year anniversary at the studio. This is Tansy and Marty.

Tansy is an interior designer who wants her spaces to feel calm and will be the first to tell you her presence is anything but.

Ten cross-country moves over thirty years. Cultures absorbed, aesthetics borrowed, a style entirely her own. When life finally gave her and her husband the chance to choose where to land, they chose here. Natural beauty. Four seasons. Room to breathe. Traverse City checked every box.

Last June, they jumped. LeBlanc House. A design studio, kitchen and bath remodel practice, and home boutique exists because of that leap. No perfectly polished business plan. Just a decision to stop moving and start building.

Success, the real version? LeBlanc House becoming a seamless extension of who she is. Not something to constantly push. Her creativity starts in the garden, on slow days, with space to breathe.

Ask what she’d miss most if she left: the sunsets. Driving home over the rolling hills, the sky turning pink over Lake Michigan.

House of 301 is a portrait and personal branding studio in Traverse City, Michigan.

It was built by someone who spent years working in front of cameras in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas.

Someone who learned what direction actually looks like when it is done at the highest level and what it looks like when it is not.

What was missing here was not talent. It was infrastructure. A studio built to a standard that did not require anyone to leave the place they love to access it.

That is why this exists.
