A multi-generational session at home. Really, it was a birthday gathering I had the honor of photographing.

I would be delighted to join more families for their gatherings.

Reach out if that would delight you, too www.nikolevelascophoto.com

"Hey Alexa, Play Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin." - Isabella when getting her three boys ready to go to bed.

Here's the review she left after her session:

"Where do I even begin? Nikole photographed our family in our home, and the moments she
captured are ones we’ll cherish forever. She has such a calm, intuitive presence that spending the afternoon with her felt less like a photo shoot and more like having a friend over — quietly documenting us as we moved through our normal evening routine.

I’ve done family photos before and usually feel a little nervous or overly aware of the camera, but Nikole guided us in such a natural way that we were able to just be ourselves. The love, joy, and comfort we feel together as a family truly comes through in every image.

Every part of the experience felt thoughtful and intentional — from our first phone call where she wanted to understand the feeling and vision I had in mind, to the flexibility around weather reschedules, to the sneak peeks and beautiful slideshow she sent afterward. It all felt so personal and cared for.

What a gift it will be someday to look back on these photos and remember what life felt like in this season — the little routines, the chaos, the tenderness, the feeling of home while my children were still small. Nikole captured all of it so honestly and beautifully, and I truly cannot recommend her enough."

Fall inquiries have started to pick up, and I suspect October and November will be fully booked. If you'd like some fall photos, now is the time to reach out.

I'll be in the Austin/Central Texas area the week of November 26th and can take two at-home sessions while I'm there. This could be a good time for something multi-generational with family all together for Thanksgiving.

I'll also be in the San Antonio area and have space for one evening at-home session on October 1st while I'm there. More specifically, I'll be in Poteet, Texas, in case any of you live in that particular spot and want to book a session.

At-home sessions do mean at your home, but if you've got a spot nearby that's part of your life, it means those places, too.

You can inquire through my website www.nikolevelascophoto.com

Ft a collage of some recent favorite photos just because. Turn your phone sideways for the best view 🙃

Lindsay wanted to photograph what the summer was like before Harlan starts school.

I joined them for a regular evening at home, photographing what life is like right now before the next season comes and things look a little different.

Though I suspect, and hope, for much of the same for a while longer.

In early postpartum with my daughter I was surprised when I started to feel guilt for having a second child. I was sad and felt like I was missing out on my son's life. I tried to focus on being grateful he had my husband and it's been beautiful seeing their bond grow closer.

I wanted to create an image that spoke to this experience. In doing an artist study for How Too with Rachel Larsen Weaver, I picked up some of Sally Mann's work and came across her image 'Cherry Tomatoes'. Which I used as inspiration when taking this photo.

This is the first time in my life as a mother that I have my body back. I've never been both not pregnant and not breastfeeding as a mother. So we're in this unfamiliar season of freedom that weaning and the general freedom of children with a little more independence allows.

The guilt that I was missing out has dissipated. On to whatever guilt or fear my mind conjures up next. Like an onion with never ending layers to be peeled away.

I am appreciative of what has been and looking forward to what will be. Though a little sad for a season coming to an end.

Motherhood is never just one thing.

We visited Jacob's grandparents in California back in 2023. They both passed within the following year.

While visiting, I had the pleasure of photographing them meeting our son and snapped a few photos of the home they spent many years. Decades. A home Jacob's grandfather built and made theirs with his own hands.

I wish I had taken more photos of their home. A space that told the stories of their lives. The little handles drilled into walls so Jacob's grandmother could get around easier stuck with me. The story of care and consideration behind something so simple. I think about those handles when I reach for the little string Jacob attached to the blinds in our kitchen, I wouldn't be able to reach and open them otherwise.

The photos I did take included a few of the birdhouses his grandfather made and a peek of his workshop area in the corner of their yard.

Homes and stories and people and the way they care for and love their people. Those are the photos I want to take.

At the end of Shelbey’s Fresh-48 session, she sat down with baby Hazel to have some soup. Everyone else boppin' about the house in their own worlds. She sat and one by one every family member gathered around her. Cherished.
