Chin toward me.

Breathe.

Hold that.

You don’t have to understand why some tiny adjustment matters.

That’s my part.

Your part is showing up.

This is a real fear.

So I’m not going to dismiss it with:

“Oh babe, you’ll LOVE them!”

Because maybe you’ve spent years avoiding cameras.

Maybe seeing yourself in photographs is genuinely difficult.

Maybe you’ve already decided which parts of yourself you’re going to inspect first.

That’s exactly why my job isn’t simply to press a shutter.

I pose intentionally.

I pay attention to light.

I watch expression.

I make adjustments.

And throughout the session, I’ll show you what we’re creating.

You aren’t going to spend the entire experience wondering whether this is working.

And little by little, something usually happens:

The woman who was terrified she’d hate every picture starts asking me…

“Can I see that one again?” 🖤

Motherhood added something to you.

It didn’t erase everything that came before it.

You’re still allowed to feel beautiful without it being about motherhood.

You’re still allowed to feel sensual.

You’re still allowed to wear something impractical just because you love the way you look in it.

You’re still allowed to have photographs that aren’t family portraits, maternity pictures, or you standing behind your children making sure everybody else looks at the camera.

You are their mama.

And that is enormous.

But you are also still you.

Womanhood didn’t end when motherhood began.

There is room for both. 🖤

Some of us learned a version of modesty that slowly became something else entirely.

Don’t draw attention to yourself.

Don’t be too sensual.

Don’t enjoy your body too much.

Don’t let anyone think you’re vain.

Shrink.
Cover.
Apologize.

And eventually it became very easy to confuse discomfort with our bodies for holiness.

But shame isn’t a fruit of the Spirit.

Your body isn’t an embarrassing footnote to the person God created you to be.

You don’t have to worship it.

You don’t have to hate it either.

You are allowed to live inside the body God gave you with gratitude, freedom and peace.

Every part of you was made on purpose. 🖤

Every once in a while someone tells me:

“I don’t know if I should do bo***ir. My husband sees me naked all the time.”

Ma’am.

Respectfully.

That man has also seen pizza before and I guarantee you he still gets excited when someone puts a fresh one in front of him. 😂

This isn’t about revealing some top-secret information.

It’s the lingerie.
The posing.
The lighting.
The anticipation.
The little album he absolutely was not expecting you to hand him.

And, perhaps most importantly:

YOU getting to see what he has apparently been trying to tell you this entire time.

So yes.

He knows what you look like.

Something tells me he’d still like the pictures. 😉

Can we stop pretending every act of self-love has to be wholesome enough to put on a coffee mug?

Sometimes you don’t need a profound reason.

Sometimes you want to put on the lingerie.

Do your hair.

Feel the curve of your body.

Look at a photograph and think:

Oh. that’s me.

That doesn’t make you shallow.

It doesn’t make you vain.

It doesn’t mean you’ve reduced your worth to how you look.

You contain multitudes, babe.

You can know your body isn’t the most important thing about you…

and still REALLY enjoy the fact that it looks incredible in satin and lace. 😉

Both can be true.

Here’s something I wish more women knew about bo***ir:

You are looking at the finished product.

You’re not seeing the nervous laugh when she first walked in.

You’re not hearing her tell me, “I’m so awkward in pictures.”

You’re not seeing me move her hand two inches, adjust her chin, reposition her leg, remind her to breathe, and demonstrate the pose right beside her.

You’re seeing the result of being guided well.

The women in my portfolio didn’t show up magically knowing how to model.

They showed up as themselves.

I knew how to photograph them.

And if you decide to walk through my door?

I’ll know how to photograph you, too. 🖤
