Tips for Food Photography on Thanksgiving

Want to take a picture of that gorgeous pie or turkey that you just cooked? Here’s some tips for beautiful food pics:

Turn off your overhead lights. Dim natural light from a window looks nicer than the glare of blue fluorescent or yellow incandescent lights.

Choose a simple background. Minimize distractions by clearing the area and placing food against a clean wall or on an appealing surface. If your kitchen counter or table doesn’t work, use a nice tea towel or wooden cutting board.

Try photos from multiple angles. Try taking photos from straight above or from the side at an angle.

Plate it! A small serving of the food you’re photographing in the middle of a clean white plate can be the best way to go. Try placing a simple garnish next to it that goes along with the ingredients of the dish.
