Why were bees so drippy this past week?
Because they forgot their yellow jackets.
Bees hide under flowers during rain primarily as a survival instinct to avoid the physical and physiological dangers posed by water. When caught away from their hive, flowers act as temporary "umbrellas" that protect their flight capabilities and body temperature.

Snow Moon

I was standing in my front yard on this clear night on February 1st. This photo was taken on the peak cycle of the snow moon. It was so bright and beautiful.

Oyster Boat, Eastpoint, Florida

Five years ago, there were dozens of oyster boats in the Eastpoint harbor. They were all pulled out when wild harvesting was suspended. Now they are returning, with harvesting restored at a smaller scale. This shot was taken in 2009 with a Panasonic FZ-50 (f-4, 1/160, ~85mm, tripod.) The left side shows the warm effect of the early morning sun. The shadow side reflects the blues of the sky and water. Framing out the horizon and the foreground suspends the boat in space. The telephoto lens flattens the perspective.
