[ Zurbriggen Family | Forest Park ]

I spent a good portion of the weekend checking the weather radar like a hawk, hoping the rain would hold off for my Forest Park Mini Sessions. Thankfully, as the day went on, the forecast kept looking better and better! We ended up with an overcast day, which actually turned out to be the perfect backdrop for fall portraits.

One of my favorite spots in Forest Park is this beautiful open field filled with tall prairie grass and native Missouri wildflowers. When the weather is overcast, all those rich fall colors really come alive. The deep browns, warm oranges, maroons and tans create the prettiest backdrop for family pictures. It's a spot that never disappoints!

I was especially excited to see the Zurbriggen family again! Rachel and Jeff have four of the sweetest little girls—Everleigh, Isla, Ophelia and Arwen—and I've loved getting to photograph their family over the years.

It honestly doesn't feel like a year ago that I was photographing them at Lafayette Park with Rachel pregnant with Arwen. And now here we are, with their newest little girl joining in on all the family pictures! Time really does fly.

Arwen was an absolute dream during our session. She was so calm, sweet and happy, and gave us lots of smiles! Her big sisters were just as wonderful. These girls are always so excited to play along with all my little prompts and games, and we always have such a fun time together.

One of my favorite things about photographing families year after year is getting to see all those little changes that happen in between sessions. A new baby joins the family, toddlers turn into big kids, and suddenly the family you photographed last fall looks a little different this year.

I'm so thankful the Zurbriggens continue to invite me back to capture these memories. Getting to watch their four girls grow up through my camera is such a joy, and I hope these photographs become some of their favorite reminders of this sweet season together.

Rachel and Jeff, thank you for another wonderful session! I'm so glad the weather cooperated and that we got to spend another fall evening together!

[ The Schriefer Family | Lafayette Park ]

I met Heidi and Andrew Schriefer through a mutual friend. We'd crossed paths at a few birthday parties over the years, so when Heidi reached out about family pictures, I was so happy to get to spend more time with them!

We met on a beautiful October morning at Lafayette Park, where the weather was a perfect 60 degrees and the sun was filtering through the trees in the most beautiful way. The sunken garden was full of colorful flowers, and the lush greenery made such a lovely backdrop for their session.

Their sweet son, Jack, loved running around, being chased, and exploring everything around him. Sitting still for pictures was definitely not at the top of his priority list—and honestly, can you blame him? There was a whole beautiful park to explore!

So we did what we do best: we played.

I pulled out all my usual tricks, prompts, and games to get Jack laughing and looking our way. Heidi and Andrew were so calm and patient through it all, which makes such a difference when you're photographing little ones. We followed his lead, let him burn off some energy, and found ways to make pictures fun rather than turning the whole thing into a battle to sit still.

And you know what? It worked!

By the end of our session, we had a full gallery of sweet smiles, genuine expressions, and those little moments that show off Jack's personality.

This is one of the things I love most about photographing young families. Kids don't have to sit perfectly still or smile on command for us to make meaningful photographs. Sometimes the best images come from a little running, a lot of playing, and parents who are willing to just enjoy their kids right where they are.

Heidi and Andrew, thank you for trusting me to capture this season for your family. It was such a joy to spend the morning with you, and I'm so glad we were able to turn all that toddler energy into a gallery full of memories!

[ The Thornton Family | Lafayette Park ]

A Beautiful October Morning with the Thorntons | Lafayette Park Family Sessio

October mornings like this one are exactly why I love fall sessions! A crisp 60-degree morning, the prettiest light filtering through the trees, colorful flowers still in bloom, and the lushest garden setting at Lafayette Park. It was such a beautiful morning to spend time with the Thornton family!

Maegan and Matt reached out to have me photograph their family for the first time, and I was so excited! We actually know each other through South City Community School, where our kids attend school together. Their son Oliver is in the same class as my son Louis, so it was especially fun to get to spend some time with their family outside of school pickup and drop-off!

Oliver and his little sister, Tinley, were an absolute joy to photograph. They are both so social and sweet, and they were ready to jump right into all my little games and prompts. We had so many smiles and lots of fun together, which always makes my job easy!

We spent our morning exploring the sunken garden and Victorian Bridge at Lafayette Park, surrounded by colorful flowers and beautiful greenery. The light coming through the trees was just perfect, giving everything that soft, dreamy glow I love so much.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is getting to know people beyond the everyday places we see each other. What a gift to get to know the Thorntons a little better and capture these memories of their family!

[ The Sudkamp Family | Tower Grove Park Family Session
Family ]

There is something about a warm fall evening, beautiful golden light, and a family who is always up for having fun that makes for the sweetest session!

I met up with Courtney and Luke Sudkamp and their boys, Miles and Simon, at Tower Grove Park for a Fall Mini Session, and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful evening. The weather was warm, the golden hour light was absolutely perfect, and you could just start to see those golden hues of fall beginning to peek through the trees. It's one of my favorite times of year to photograph families!

I've had the joy of photographing the Sudkamps a couple of times before, and it's always such a treat to see them again. Courtney and Luke are so kind and easygoing, which makes our time together feel effortless. And their boys? Just the sweetest! Miles and Simon were completely on board with all my little prompts and games to get them smiling, which always makes my job so much fun.

And can we talk about how well this family dresses?! They always show up looking so good! I love when families put thought into what they wear for pictures, and the Sudkamps never disappoint.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is getting to see them again and again as their kids grow and change. Each session captures a tiny piece of their story, and I love that these photographs will become reminders of what life looked like in this season.

I'm so thankful the Sudkamps continue to trust me to capture these memories for them. It was such a joy to spend a beautiful fall evening with their family, and I'm already looking forward to the next time I get them in front of my camera!

[ Miranda & Scott's Forest Park Session ]

When was the last time you had professional photographs taken with the person you love?

For Miranda and Scott Pogue, the answer was apparently...their wedding!

And I'm so glad they decided it was time to change that.

Miranda and Scott are part of my church family, and this was actually my first time photographing them. We met up in Forest Park for a fall mini session at the Victorian Bridge, and it was such a fun evening.

One of my favorite things about photography is that a session doesn't have to feel stiff or formal. You don't have to know what to do with your hands. You don't have to know how to pose. You don't even have to be particularly comfortable in front of a camera.

That's what I'm there for.

I'll give you prompts, tell you where to stand, get you moving and interacting, and hopefully make you forget that you're even being photographed.

Miranda and Scott were such good sports and jumped right into everything I asked them to do. We laughed, chatted and enjoyed a beautiful fall evening together.

And the light?

Absolutely gorgeous.

That warm golden-hour glow through Forest Park was the perfect finishing touch to their session.

But more than the pretty light or beautiful location, I'm just really glad they made the decision to take the pictures.

Because life gets busy.

Years go by.

And it's easy to think you'll get around to pictures "someday."

But these are the photographs that become more valuable as the years go by.

The photographs that remind you what you looked like when you were younger. What you were wearing. What your relationship felt like in that season. What it was like to simply be together.

You don't need a special occasion to document your marriage.

You don't need to have little kids running around the house.

You don't need to wait for a milestone.

Sometimes it's enough to say, "This season matters, and I want to remember it."

I'm so glad Miranda and Scott did just that.

It was such a joy to photograph you both, and I'm already thankful that these photographs will give you something tangible to look back on for years to come.

[ The Chens | Forest Park Family Session ]

There are some families I photograph that I genuinely look forward to seeing every single year, and the Chens are one of them.

I've been photographing Sean and Christine's family for quite a while now, and every time I see them, I am reminded of just how much I love getting to watch families grow in front of my camera.

And there is an especially fun connection I have with this family— their oldest daughter is named Gretchen! As someone who doesn't meet another Gretchen very often, I obviously love that.

And then there's Ingrid, who is just as sweet as can be.

These two girls are truly some of the cutest kids I've ever photographed, and they brought so much personality to their Forest Park Mini Session.

Ingrid was a little unsure about pictures when we first started. Which, honestly, is completely understandable! Having a camera pointed at you by someone you don't know very well can feel like a lot for a little one.

But it didn't take long.

A little playing, a few prompts and some time to get comfortable, and suddenly she was all smiles. By the end of our session, she was completely warmed up and having fun.

That's one of the reasons I love a lifestyle approach to family photography. I'm not looking for everyone to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera for every photograph. I want to give kids room to be themselves, play a little and warm up at their own pace.

And thankfully, the Chens are the kind of family who makes that easy.

Sean and Christine are just delightful people, and our time together always feels more like catching up with friends than simply checking a photography session off the calendar.

We also happened to have the most beautiful golden hour light. That soft, warm glow through the trees at the end of the day is one of my favorite things to photograph, and Forest Park absolutely delivered.

I'm so thankful for this family and for the years of memories they've trusted me to capture.

And I'm already looking forward to the next time I get to see them!

[ The Pittmans | Forest Park Family Session ]

There is something about fall in Forest Park that makes photographing families feel extra special.

The golden light. The cooler temperatures. The changing leaves. And those beautiful little pockets of sunshine that make everything feel warm and glowy.

I met up with Tiffany and Joshua Pittman and their kids, Josiah, Garett and Emma, at the Victorian Bridge in Forest Park for one of my Fall Mini Sessions, and we could not have asked for better weather.

It had been about three years since I last photographed their family, which meant I was immediately struck by how much their boys had grown. They were SO tall! It's one of those funny things about this job—you can remember exactly what a child looked like the last time you photographed them, and then suddenly three years have passed and they're practically looking you in the eye.

And while I loved seeing how much everyone had grown, I also loved how easy their session felt. There is a very different kind of fun that comes with photographing older kids. They smile when you ask them to. They look right at the camera. They follow directions.

We had beautiful sunshine, temperatures in the 70s and the kind of fall evening photographers dream about.

The Pittmans made my job easy, and we were able to capture so many sweet, natural moments together in just 15 minutes.

One of my favorite parts of photography is getting to see families again after a few years and realizing just how much has changed. The kids are taller. Their personalities have developed. Their family has grown and changed in all the little ways that happen when we're busy living life.

And that's exactly why these photographs matter.

Because three years from now, they'll look different again.

And I'll be grateful we stopped for a few minutes to remember who they were right now.

[ Ellery Lue | Lifestyle Newborn Session ]

There are some families who feel less like clients and more like old friends, and the Greers are definitely one of those families for me.

I've been photographing Devon and Drew's family for so many years now that it is honestly hard to believe how much their family has grown. I first started taking pictures of their oldest two when they were toddlers, and since then I've had the joy of photographing so many seasons and milestones for this sweet family. We've done mini sessions, family sessions, and even a newborn session before—and now I was back in their home to meet their fourth daughter, Ellery.

And let me tell you... she is precious.

Ellery is the newest little sister to Finley, Arden and Freya, and those girls were completely smitten with her. There is something so sweet about watching older siblings love on a new baby, and these three were more than happy to cuddle, hold, kiss and admire their newest sister.

One of my favorite things about photographing the Greer girls is that they are always SO into whatever I come up with. Whether it's a pose, a silly prompt or one of the little games I use to get genuine smiles, they are always ready to play along. It makes my job incredibly easy—and honestly, a whole lot of fun.

And that's really how my time with this family always feels. Fun.

Devon and Drew are so easy to chat with, their girls are wonderful, and they have always made me feel completely at home in their family. Getting to walk into their home again and photograph this newest chapter felt like such a gift.

There is something really special about getting to photograph a family over and over again. I get to see toddlers turn into big kids, big kids become big sisters, and families grow in ways that I only get to witness through my camera.

And now there is Ellery.

Another little girl to add to this beautiful family. Another season to remember. Another tiny face that will someday look back at these photographs and see just how very loved she was from the beginning.

I am so thankful the Greers have trusted me to capture so many of these memories over the years. It truly is an honor to be invited back again and again—and even more special to get to meet the newest little person God has added to their family.

Welcome to the world, sweet Ellery. You are very, very loved.

[ Baby Ruthie ]

Earlier this summer, I was wandering the trails of Forest Park with Joselyn and Pat as we celebrated the little girl they were eagerly waiting to meet. This time, I had the joy of stepping into their home to meet her.

Sweet Ruthie has arrived.

There is something especially meaningful about photographing families through multiple seasons of their story. From maternity to newborn, from anticipation to arrival, each session becomes another chapter of God's faithfulness written into their lives. It is one of the greatest privileges of my work to witness those chapters unfold.

We spent the afternoon together and the late summer light poured through the windows with the kind of softness photographers dream about. The room felt peaceful and warm, creating the perfect backdrop for documenting these first days as a family of six.

Like most newborn sessions, everything unfolded exactly as it should.

Ruthie wasn't quite ready to fall asleep when I arrived. There were diaper changes, nursing breaks, gentle rocking, and patient pacing around the room before those sleepy little eyes finally closed.

And honestly...

I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Those pauses are some of my favorite parts of in-home newborn photography. They create space for conversation, laughter, and simply being together. They remind us that this season isn't meant to be rushed. Babies have their own rhythms, and there is something beautiful about slowing down enough to follow them.

Throughout the afternoon, the older girls drifted in and out of the room, eager for another turn holding their new baby sister. Every glance toward Ruthie seemed filled with wonder. They gently kissed her forehead, wrapped tiny arms around her, and looked at her with the kind of affection that only siblings can give. Watching their love for one another unfold was one of the sweetest parts of the day.

Of course, there were toddler emotions too.

There were moments of excitement, moments of distraction, and moments when little hearts needed Mom or Dad's attention. None of those interrupted the session. In fact, they told the story. Family life isn't made beautiful because it's perfectly calm—it is beautiful because love faithfully meets each need as it comes.

Joselyn and Pat move so naturally from comforting one child to celebrating another.

My hope with every newborn session is to preserve more than beautiful portraits. I want families to remember what this season actually felt like—the tiny yawns, the nursing breaks, the laughter between sisters, the sunlight across the bed, the peaceful moments that quietly filled an ordinary afternoon.

Years from now, these images won't simply remind the Miller family how tiny Ruthie once was. They'll remember how deeply she was loved from the very beginning, how her sisters couldn't get enough of her, and how faithful God was in the beautiful, ordinary days of welcoming another precious daughter into their home.

Joselyn and Pat, thank you for inviting me into another chapter of your family's story. It is such a gift to watch the Lord continue to grow your family, and I pray these photographs will always remind you of His kindness, His faithfulness, and the incredible blessing of these fleeting days together.
