I have to share this story because enough time has passed that I finally feel comfortable sharing it with the masses...
‼️ Full disclaimer: this story has absolutely NOTHING to do with the bride and groom in these photos (side-note--aren't they a gorgeous couple?!?).
Alright, story time--A few years ago, we were photographing a wedding reception. Reception lighting is pretty much the only time we ever use flash, which is important for the story. I (Jacob) am taking photos of the bride and groom when the bride's aunt casually slides right up beside me with her camera... also firing a flash.
After a few shots, I politely turned to her and said, "Hey, there! Would you mind turning your flash off, please? It's interfering with my exposure."
You know... because I was the photographer they hired. 😂
She nodded and walked away.
A little while later, Brooke walks over to me, and she's laughing hysterically. Apparently, the very first thing Aunt "Flash" did after leaving me was walk over to Brooke (unaware that we are a husband and wife team) and say:
"I don't know who that guy is, but can you believe he asked me to turn my flash off? He was so rude!"
Without missing a beat, Brooke replied:
"Oh, I'm so sorry. Yeah, I bet he is rude."
To this day, one of my favorite wedding stories.
The best part? The aunt never knew she was talking to my wife. We may have to start sharing more wedding-day stories. We've collected a few over the years. 😅
