Recently WashU hosted Olympic Gold Medalists Dawn Harper Nelson and Jackie Joyner-Kersee to announce that St. Louis will host the 2028 US Olympic Marathon Trials. University leadership was joined by senior officers from the St. Louis Sports Commission, USA Track & Field, City of St. Louis, Emerson, St. Louis CITY and GO! St. Louis to make the announcement. On March 25, 2028 the marathon will start at WashU's historic Francis Olympic Field, site of the 1904 Olympics, and will conclude at St. Louis CITY's Energizer Park in downtown St. Louis.

Graduate students from the McKelvey School of Engineering at WashU gathered last month for a toast and hooding ceremony marking their graduation from the school. Two days later the graduates joined other members of WashU's Class of 2026 for a campus-wide Commencement at historic Francis Olympic Field.

WashU’s McKelvey School of Engineering hosted the a champagne toast preceding the 2026 PhD Hooding and Recognition Ceremony Wednesday, May 13, 2026. The toast was held at Knight Hall, followed by the hooding ceremony at nearby Graham Chapel.

WashU's Institute for School Partnership recently hosted teachers showcasing technology used in their classrooms as part of the AT&T Digital Navigation Program, a partnership helping between the University and the telecommunications company assisting both public and private schools. WashU Chancellor Andrew Martin delivered remarks and joined others in demonstrations of the technology.

Members of the Class of 2026 from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, part of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, gathered with their family and friends for the college’s 158 Commencement at the UHSP Recreation and Student Center Saturday, May 9, 2026. Graduates were awarded Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degrees, and members of STLCOP’s Class of 1976 gathered for the Gold Alumni Commencement Celebration.

Graduating students from Aquinas Institute of Theology gathered earlier this month for the school’s 2026 Baccalaureate Mass at St. Pius V Catholic Church in St. Louis. During academic year 2025-26 the Dominican graduate school celebrated 100 years since its founding.

Late last month I helped Concordia Seminary St. Louis with photography of Call Day, including the 2026 Service of Evening Prayer with the Assignment of Calls, where students in the final year of seminary receive their first assignments with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Last month participants in the Rally to Bridge Faith & Justice marched to the center of the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge in St. Louis protesting US immigration policy and enforcement efforts by the US Department of Homeland Security. An interfaith group of clergy and laity joined to protest and offer moral objections to current US immigration policy, activity by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and call for immigration policy reform. Students from Washington University in St. Louis McKelvey School of Engineering gathered late last semester to work on custom-made, small-scale robots capable of cooperative behavior for the WashU Robotics club’s Swarm program. The universal module connector developed by Swarm allows each robot to attach additional modules or other robots, particularly useful in situations where robots must adapt autonomously.
