With senior photo deadlines approaching, I’ve been thinking about the seniors whose families lost their homes in the recent Spokane-area wildfires.

I too live in these areas and am reminded every day of what happened.

I was trying to figure out ways I could possibly help.

I decided that I’d like to offer a few completely free senior portrait sessions to local high school seniors whose families lost their homes in the fires.

No catch. No obligation to book anything else. No expectation to post, share, or promote my business.

Just a full senior portrait experience, on me.
You deserve to have beautiful photographs marking this chapter of your life, even when this year has looked nothing like you imagined it would.

If you or someone you know is a graduating senior whose family lost their home in the fires, please send me a private message.

I’ll be offering a limited number of sessions and will coordinate the details privately with each family.

And if you know a family who might benefit from this, please feel free to quietly pass this along to them.

Thank you Violet for trusting me with your vision!

The beginning of this when we realized the fire was heading our way. My stepson and his friends were at the Spike and Dig at Dwight Merkel. Traffic was bad so we just started walking to make sure to get to him. The second half we are down to check for a friend who is out of town to find out if her house is still standing. I am glad we could give her some relief.

First of all I am very lucky that my neighborhood was missed but just minutes a way neighborhoods that are part of my community were not so lucky. My trails, my parks. It was hard seeing all of this. People carrying their pets in carriers up the streets because roads were blocked off.

Trees still burning, houses burning. Displaced chickens. Distraught faces. Wildlife that didn't make it.

I am so sorry for everyones loss. And I hope everyone is safe.

This area is a place I often take walks with my dog. I walk and enjoy the Balsamroots, I walk and enjoy the fog. I walk and enter the cemetery next to it and visit my grandparents, and my husband's grandparents.

I walk to the edge where it dips down into the valley looking over Riverside State Park, I have caught many sunsets there and many foggy views.

I often do creative shoots there and I have even taken senior photos there.

I know it could have been worse. I know its worse on the other side of town. But its still so sad to see. I hate to see the beautiful places we have around here taken out by fire summer after summer.

The first photo is where the fire was. There are a few more shots of where the fire was in the mix of all the pretty photos I have taken there.

I can't wait to share the photos I captured!

Jessica Suriano is up next! Her love for photography began while hiking local trails and parks as a way to cope with chronic illness. During those hikes she discovered a love for capturing the landscapes around her, and it quickly grew into photographing people. Jessica started Love & Ruin Photography because she loves blending the natural beauty of landscapes with creativity and fantasy to create images that feel magical and meaningful.

Check out this awesome behind the scenes shot!

Wrapped my shoot for Same Dress Spokane yesterday!

Thank you to my husband Dallas Belch for assisting and doing a lot of heavy lifting throughout. Thank you to my friend Audrina Fay for taking behind the scenes video for me and also for her brain power plus holding things and moving things!

And thank you to Sadi Hinton for being my model! My creative photography journey wouldn't have gotten this far without you over the last year!

Not only that, but the support of these 3 right here. Offering words of encouragement and just being helpful humans overall throughout my years of teaching myself photography. It was perfect to have the 3 of them on my team for this.

I can't wait to share the photos in September!
