Today is more than just cookouts, beach trips, and an extra day off.

Today, we honor the lives of the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Today, I remember my Uncle Keith, and his two buddies, Kermit and Brad, who all gave their lives serving this country. Their sacrifice is the reason we get to live the lives we do today, and that is something I will never take for granted.

I never had the chance to meet Kermit or Brad, but through the stories, the love, and the loss left behind, they will always matter to me. They will always be remembered.

There’s an emptiness that comes with loving someone you never got enough time with, and Memorial Day will always carry that feeling for me.

So today, I honor them.
I speak their names.
I remember their sacrifice.
And I hold them close in my heart, always.

I’ll love you forever, I’ll miss you always 🪽
