We’re wrapping up the first week of school, and there’s something about back-to-school that makes my mama heart feel ALL the feels. Let’s be real though, my heart feels all the feels regardless - it’s just extra at the beginning of each school year 😂

Excited. Proud. Nervous. Hopeful. A little sad.

Every year brings something new. New teachers, new routines, new friendships, new challenges. And as a mama, there’s a part of me that wants to know exactly how this year will play out. What will it hold? What will they experience? Who will they be at the end of the year?

But that’s just not realistic, is it?
The truth is, I don’t get to know. Not yet, at least.

There’s so much that happens once they leave our little bubble that we simply cannot control. And, to me, that’s one of the hardest parts of parenting. But I also know there is SO much good waiting for them.

There will be teachers who make an impact. Friends who make them laugh until their stomachs hurt. Lessons they’ll carry with them. Moments that make them proud. Mistakes that help them grow.

So here we go 🤍

Another school year. Another little piece of childhood unfolding before our eyes.

Take me back to the aquarium ASAP 🐠✨

I could have stayed + played for a much longer time, but my children, however, had a one-track mission to get to Africa - a fast paced speed walk if you will 😂🦁

Nonetheless, I took advantage of our fifteen minutes and noticed it all. The colors, the textures, the movement. All of the little details to play with.

I’m already dreaming up a session here because I think this space has SO much potential for something creative, fun, and completely unique.

It feels like summer just started, but somehow we’re already getting ready for a new school year ❤️ Before they head back to class, let’s take a few minutes to capture this season - the missing teeth, the excitement, the nerves, and all the little things that make them, them right now.

Summer always feels like it will last forever…

until, suddenly, it doesn’t.

The days begin to shorten. The shelves begin to fill with school supplies. And somehow, without asking our permission, these little versions of our kids quietly become memories ☀️

That’s why I bring my camera to the most ordinary days. It’s really why I picked one up in the first place.

Because my job isn’t to create emotion - that’s already there. My job is simply to notice it. To preserve the pieces of everyday life that have always felt so meaningful, even before we realize how quickly they’ll slip into memory.

As for me, you’ll find me soaking up every bit of summer we have left - camera in hand, chasing the ordinary moments that I know won’t stay ordinary forever.
