Out of the over 100 images that I used to create the 'Star Trails' image, 2 of those images managed to capture a Perseids meteor shooting star! I only wish that I saw them live. Truth is, I set my camera up for continuous shooting and then walked off to see what the other photographers in my group were capturing. It is so exciting to see them live.

Star Trails! These types of photos are made by compiling multiple images into one image to show the movement of the stars through the sky. In this case over 100 images and about an hours worth of 20 sec. exposures were used.

Of course my favorite is the Sea Oats, Sand Dunes, and Milky Way Stars...

Back to the coast of Georgia... It's been pretty hard lately finding a clear night for Milky Way photography. Here's one from Tybee from a couple of weeks ago... Be careful swimming in this area. These cement erosion prevention walls are supposed to be buried in sand, but because of erosion (and the lack of funding for beach renourishment) they are exposed and full of barnacles and possibly oysters. At higher tides, they are under water and you can't see them but if you run into them, you will most likely get cuts.

Next stop on the way home was the Cong Duc Lotus Pond. Have you ever heard of it? The lotus grows in a similar environment as the water lily but is much larger (about 3x) and it's leaves and flowers grows up above the water instead of laying on the water's surface.
