The Promise2Live family is heartbroken at the loss of our dear friend Jon Absey. Jon was a true advocate for mental health and su***de prevention, and he lived his life serving others with kindness, humility, and quiet strength. He was a giant of a man in every way that mattered.
For 25 years as the Jazz Bear, Jon brought joy to millions with his humor, energy, and unforgettable presence. But what defined him most was not the crowds he entertained, but the individuals he cared for. Even while making arenas laugh and cheer, Jon always made time for “the one.” One person. One child. One moment that mattered. That was his heart.
Jon fought cancer with courage and grace, and even in his hardest moments, he continued to think of others. He was one of the most selfless people we have ever known, and his impact will be felt for generations through the lives he touched.
We send all our love, thoughts, and prayers to his sweet wife, Shana, and his beautiful girls. This is a huge loss for our community and for everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Jon, thank you for your heart, your example, and the light you brought into the world. We honor yo,u and we will carry your legacy forward.
