Kilby Block Party 2026 recap

We spent the weekend hanging with so many familiar faces (and meeting a lot of new ones), selling our limited Essential × KBP disposable cameras, merch, and collecting film drop-offs all festival long.

Nothing better than music, sunburns, dusty shoes, and a disposable camera full of memories waiting to be developed. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the booth and made the weekend such a good one!

One of the best parts of having the team we do is getting to witness the incredible things they create outside the shop, too!

We’re so proud of Maddie for her recent publication in the newest issue of Wasatch Magazine. Her piece, Bodies of Earth, is a beautiful exploration of ecofeminism. It’s thoughtful, grounding, and deeply connected to the natural world in a way that feels uniquely her.

Watching the people around us pour themselves into meaningful art and share it with the world is endlessly inspiring, and we feel lucky to have such talented humans as part of the Essential family!

Still thinking about last Friday night!

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a gallery show for Molly McCreary, sharing a body of work shaped by time in the field, studying the earth up close, and documenting the raw, expansive beauty of Alaska. Her images feel both grounded and otherworldly… like standing in a place that’s been quietly forming for millions of years.

Thank you to everyone who came out, spent time with the work, asked questions, and helped us celebrate such a thoughtful and powerful perspective. And to thank you for trusting us with your vision and letting us be a small part of telling your story!
